yeah tried that method and couldnt decide weather it was right or wrong.

i couldnt get the correct marks on the dipstick.

cos i am one...
 
okies...

right, frank was right, the cam timing was off (inlet) by one tooth (too advanced) so sorted that out in ten mins then shoved some pre mot emisions additive and some oil thickener in it and sent it to the tester..


FAILURE on, front number plate digits too small.... (even though its been there for 3 years)
and emisions too high. lambda sensor not working GRR

results of emisions.

fast idle test,

2450rpm-3050rpm=
Co % = 0.300limit max actual = 0.597
HC ppm = 200 limit max actual = 299
lambda 1st fast idle 1.025
lambda 2nd fast idle 1.032 (limit 1.030)

so im ordering a new lambda sensor and i dont know what else to do..lol
 
poo.....again....

allthough i havent had it disconnected for about 18000 miles... not since july last year.

gonna fit a new one anyway
 
ant sorry on the delay on sending the seal was so busy the past couple of days but hve gone today first class so you should recieve tomorrow
 
thank you matey. hopefully the little bit of ignition timing and a new lambda sensor will pass its mot tomorrow. the i can take the engine out and fit the new one..lol

yeah, passed its mot with a new cat on it. sound different too...much better.

not stuck the engine in yet, still waiting to find out about a cylinder head locating dowel and try to afford some fluids...
 
i cant at the mo. ive fallen out with me nana (who i live with) and i left my phone charger there. so i cannot charge my phone currently. ive got the pics but cant ut them on the pee see.

dont worry. they are good pics..lol
 
well, ive been kicked out. so my new engine, my axle stands, all of my micra stuff, my clothes, my pc, my letters and wallet are all in a house im no longer living in... ah well.


but i do have pictures.!!!

Need to get rid of the shiney plate behind the front bumper, looks out of place!
Other than that its looking good, I would take off the rest of the stickers though.

And spray the ends of the grille red ;)

i like the shiny plate personally, maybe if you meshed in front of it? could help tie the red/black theme together?

hope you sort the domestic stuff out mate, sounds rough...
 
yeah, ill do that i econ. after i have removed the stickers the whole cr is going to need a propper re-spray...
 
front end looks smart bar that silver plate lol...and the front number plate aint straight :p when and if you get chance why not remove the rear archs? wont look odd then aye? :)

and remove the rest of the stickers lol...
 
i cant remove the arches... the metal rear quarters are nakered. they have been hammered out of the way to clear the wheels so if it take the arches off its gonna look like a dogs breakfast..lol

i might put the front ones back on again at some point. (when i can get back to my house and the grandmother from hell lets me into the garage)
 
How much of a job would it be repairing the arch that got bumped? The sooner they go back on the better (Y)
 
personly i think i would look so smart if u put the front arches back on anyway, always liked this car since i joined the forum! with a respray nice new paint will make it look like a show car!

Cheers for the spoiler ant, how do i get the brake light working? do i need to splice into my existing 3rd brake light wire cause the connectors already on there dont fit anywhere lol.
 
yeah... you chuck out the 3rd brake lite and extend the wires to the spoiler...inever bothered tbh... lol did u like the finish to the paint??? thats how all my painting comes out... smooth as a babies bum....
 
haha yeah i did like it, it was rather smooth, ive done one coat of paint and im gunna sand that down with some fine sand paper and do another coat then see how it looks.

I've tried to wire the brake light up and ive had no success at all, ive even wired it up to a constant source and checked with an electrical tester that the powers going into the leds, i think its broke though.

picture showing trimmed arch, normal arch for comparison and all 4. they need stripping, cleaning and painting...(Y)
its not as bad as it looks, you cant see it when its fitted.

Update

ITS ALIVE!!

yes people, after 2 years sat in my wet, muddy garden on the floor with little more than windows in it...
it started up with the first turn of the key, no exhaust yet, as im struggling to find a downpipe for my turbo setup, but its like it had never been left to stand for so long. miracle!

there are lots of photo's but they are being kept a secret, (not really i have miss placed my sd card..lol) but i do have a video of it idling perfectly at 1000rpm with no hunting, missfiring or stuttering..



love it again!

aaargh, bad news.
the drivers side sill is beyond repair. the patch that was welded on previously has rotten through and the structure underneath has been eaten by the tin worm too. its had it. and after i have spent so much money and time on getting it back on the road too..

unless i find someone who can weld then the car is going to get scrapped and i will have to stick with mr2 owners life and no longer be a micra owner..

Can you cut the rot out yourself? You could get the sheet for £10 and welder should on charge 40-50 ?

yeah, most of it fel out, but under the outer sill is the inner one usualy. the structural bit of the floor. and this has gone through both bits.
the outer sill isnt a problem you can buy them from ebay for £20 but the inner isnt available anywhere... so.... im stuck atm. i might just give it a go myself though.....
 
i had to beat / cut out and shape my own piece of metal for the welder to come an straight weld no prepin for him as i had done all of it--------grind out cut out rusted part,,clean area back to shimmering metal,,cut out,,or use cutting disc to do this part that roughly should overlap all the missing area
if its the inner metal gone,,do the same cut out all rust= grind
 
ant i have just seen my bosses mk 2 escort being built from the ground floor up

its just had new suspension turrets , floor, driveshaft tunnel

you name it its been replaced!!

if you had the welder, the metal a grinder and maybe a power file its not a hard job, as r reg says, just cut it out

dont let her die man, to many memories for you and i dont wanna see you quit because of it

chin up mate and get stuck in cutting out the bad
