PROject PROfect

More progress... in first stages of primer now... needs the back bits trimming with the dremel and a final skim with body filler to cover the little bubbles in the bog...
This is without a doubt a hell of a lot harder than I thought it was going to be...
Anyway pictures

So after working a night shift last night and needing to be in again tonight I thought I'd best get the old girl ready for the road again at least...

Few little dimples just near the right side bridge... bit of a pain and a little disappointing but we have many months till JAE and I'm not in a rush.

One bolt is all that remained! Phew!
Crisis averted!

So I started lining up the strike pins both the same height there a lovely colour

Marked where the holes should/want to go.
And then got my drill... The whole time crapping myself because I'm about to drill a hole in my car... not something I do everyday I might add!
Two pilot holes through the first skin on the inside... then made them a little bigger than the strike pins.
Next step was the worst...
Drilling through the bonnet top skin and the worry of damaging paintwork... still come this far why stop now.
So I put the bonnet down over the strike pins and pressed down giving me lovely little reverse dents in the bonnet :)
I placed a small about of rubbing compound on the strike pins and closed the bonnet again this made it easier to see where I had to drill because the compound transfered.
Little pilot hole through the skin and now there really is no going back!
Opened them up more with the bigger drill bit.
Finally the bonnet shut like this.

Sweet!
Now that the rain sleet snow and whatever else we have just had has stopped ill crack on.

Aerocatches take a fair amount of time to fit right when all the lining up, masking, drilling, cutting, filing, painting, assembly and checking is done.

It's not a job I would want to repeat mind, but it was worth the effort for the convenience they provide.

I'm wishing I hadn't bothered weather and not having a workshop or decent garage it making life difficult...
