You already have one in...
Get a wideband. Much better view of what's going on
Fairly essential until you have your tailored map done
At the moment I'll leave the wideband as it's too much at this stage am saving for my remap and other bits

i never bothered azzy, i just run the narrowband gauge personally
To be fair Frank your build probably ran pretty good already on first startup or wel at least better than Azzy's and I think with your experience you'll notice quicker if there is something wrong with the car.
When driving turbo if you wanna be 99% sure that you are not breaking parts I would have an AFR and boostgauge at the least.

Also @Azzydot with all your research did you never read that it is very recommended to get a wideband when driving turbo?

turbo cars dont leave the factory with a wideband gauge tho thieme, and i dont have the tuner license/password or knowhow to alter the maps anyway.
ed knows from experience what the CG maps should be, and as long as the injector cc is correctly logged in and the right maf is selected in the nistune software drop-down box then its a no-brainer.
look how many members that have run 1.3 engines with the 1.0 ecu without issues, different engine size different cam profiles different hp, but same maps

True but they do spend hundred maybe thousands of hours on a dyno during the design stage getting the maps spot on.

I have no doubt that ed provides good base maps but every engine is different and a base map is exactly that, its a base to start from.
You need to get a engine properly mapped to get the most from it.

I don't need a wide band am just happy with a base map ed even said u will not need it if I get the maf from s14 then am fine

Do what you want mate its your build/car but when you are trying to diagnose a problem and have no idea what Afr your running then people can't help you.

I will try s14 maf which I think it's what is saying is right, and I'll be happy if that cures the problem

I started car up and fires on first start with the s14 maf, I can hear air leak from the Thottle body housing, but I didn't think much I drove and soon as I put foot down the car wouldn't wana go ? and just smoking the turbo housing ? Smells like oil ? No smoke from exsaust,

Reading few forums on jerking, stalling, rough idle, no power on gas, running rich can be Thottle body needs resoldiering ?

yeh-man, if you,re using the s14 maf then the solder trick will be pointless innit :)
Ohh right I thought it's for Thottle sensor but nothing to do with maf ? But I need to take it off and seal it coz it's leaking air ?

Correct me if it's right maf wiring on k11 is green wire is 12v ? black is ground ? And grey shield wire is 5v signal ?

if you break the factory sealer you will need to araldite that cover back on azzy (else the boost will blow it back off)
are you sure the air leak is,nt 1 of the 2 vacuum pipes under the mani ?

Frank I fixed the the seal on the Thottle body, and found this

so cleaned it all out and used just halfords spray, and replaced idle valve with my old one, started it up and no leaks on there, now when I rev the car it stutters and don't wana rev up ? with maf plugged in or out it's same matter ? I took the rocker cover pipe off to check and it reved up ? So am guessin there is no leaks I can see ? my gearbox underneath is leaking all over ? I don't see the housing plate on ? Do I need this or is there a loose bolt ?

frank I have noticed my dump valve isn't working at all tryed 2 now and nothing working ? Can it mean something ?

when you rev it in neutral azzy ? because it only works when you,re driving really eh

I have a geniune hks one I think they have soft springs and bov on low revs, but if that's the case how comes mines not workin now ? Can it be a leak for that to happend ?

if the car was idling too high with the idle control valve deleted then i doubt if its the injectors or map or maf mate, gotta be an air leak somewhere ?

if there is a vacuum leak then there wont be enough vacuum to jerk the bov open when you snap the throttle shut azzy

Soon as I started it up it was going from 1k to 3k revs without me touching the gas pedal? then I moved the dizzy cap so the car stays better and unplugged the throttle sensor which I can alter the idle control which made no Diffrents, started it again so it's all reset and it was doing same up and down on idle

I was thinking same frank got to be a leak coz no air is opening my dump valve like it use to ?

the hissing noise you described sounds like a vacuum leak to me mate, are the 2 pipes under the mani connected ? and the 2 pipes at the back of the mani ?

I have 2 water jacks in there, 1 pipe to fuel reg, and 1 on brake house. 1 going into catch can is blocked with a nut no leaks

just a listening tube really mate
yeh the tube helped me find the leak on the Thottle body so sealed it up and that's fine, I tryed tube on other parts of engine can't find the fault gona try the hand cover one Tommow see if that helps
