tat2 mikes black passion

hey guys,
decided to lower my passion today, but hit a brick a wall. i cant for the life of me find the spare blow torch so i've gotta wait for my dad to get back from work :(

so the cars all jacked up with no where to go. dont think i'm gonna work late so i may re-shape the coils tonight then fit them in the morning. i think you all know what a k11 with no wheels and front suspension looks like so i wont bother with any piccys

Just cut a couple of coils off?? Sod heating em, not heard good stuff about that as it tampers with the strength of it

done the rears, they fit fine mate, but the top mounts dont fit too good on the fronts and look like they're gonna slip off. chopped 2 coils all round. rears sitting nice on steelies with no camber or panhard issues. i think i'll heat quite a large area and keep the flame moving, that way i wont concentrate all the heat on one spot which would cause it to go weak. (Y)

so i got it finished by 7.30pm. super stoked on the result. i was dreading the test drive but i am totally amazed by the way the car drives. i thought i'd be bouncing all over the shop but its bang on. a good firm comfortable ride with no knocks or bangs. just need to shorten the rear shocks before mot time. removing the micra and passion stickers 2moro and a good bloody clean. compounding mop head should be here soon so i can start on the scratch and swirl removal. pics 2moro guys. :p

That's excellent news, stock k11 handling is dreadful!!

I remember my stock super s, approached bend, hit the apex understeered and went straight

Same wheels and tyres, same bend same weather but 60mm lowered and flew round

Funny really how pants they are

When I picked my black super s up I was doing it on purpose on the way home ;)

I still think k11's should have come 35mm lowered as standard! I will be lowering the "family 5 dr k11" when I get it, not for looks but for handling for her, it's like driving a wet sponge otherwise! Only by 35mm I add not 100 something mine is ha ha

Get some before and after pics up matey to see the difference

Cheers mate

cheers martin, yean the handling is awful. i agree or at least higher spec models should have come with a 35mm drop as standard, most other cars do, like the si got tinted windows but still had 4x4 ride height. crazy. i didnt really see the point of the before pics as every owner knows they sit like landrovers !

pics dont really do it justice as its on a sloped hill. its the only place i could go as most of the cool photo places are over run with workers !

thanks man, put too much time into that car. but was well worth it. (Y)

ok so the suspension has settled down a bit now and i've noticed that i have some slight panhard issues now. cant afford an adjustable at the minute so does anyone know of any other way to straighten the back wheels up?

on another note, i've been getting a fair few looks since i lowered the beast. its the only lowered micra where i live but i'm hoping it catches on.

i have 1 pair of offset bushes left mike :wasntme: (£12 posted)

been a bit busy today. hoovered and dash shine, fitted my wakaba to the rear, de-badged the "micra" and "passion" and sprayed my badges black. not happy with the re-fit of the badges as my double sided sticky foam is really thick so the badges dont sit flush. any recommendations guys?

thanks man, was thinking of just running no number plate. never had one on my lude and went for 18 months and didnt get pulled once ! :grinning:

yeah i'm getting there with the paint work. its alot worse up close but i'll have my mop soon so it'll be close to pukka. (Y)

same on the k10 i had them facelift chunky bumpers i had done em in gloss black,,,and looked viscous without number plate
as police appreciated the look rather than be the one's that killed that look:grinning::grinning:

so a couple of goodies arrived this morning. Farecla G-mop compound head and some of Franks bushes. (Y) thanks Frank

so i've got a spare set of shocks on the way. once they come i can shorten them, get them on and fit the Franki bushes. (Y)

so i got started on my steelies today, pretty happy but could be a little more tidy. but nevermind. only managed to get 2 done as i'm off to look at a blue k11 facelift at 12 for the mrs. let me know what you think.

so i got the other two wheels finished today. overall i'm happy. the blue k11 facelift was a let down. engine was sweet, front panel near mint, sills were original with no rust at all. but the car had been rattle canned from the front doors back. gutted.

Love your painted wheels! Mark knobs looks good too. BTW, Where those mudflaps come from?

had a little scout round my garage today and found something good. i remember my dad bought it when my mum had her second micra, k11 97 in red. result !

well, a good 2 days. resoldered the throttle body, and got my fan working again. then today i de-grilled the death cab. i saw it a while back on the blue k11 on micra.au but i didnt like the gaps under the headlights.

I used my original grill and cut the middle out, used mesh, fiberglass and filler to build up the side

Just a thought mate

that looks super fly. might have to did the rest of the grill out of the bin. i was thinking black mesh. do you think i could mesh it now and not add the rest of the grill bits like yours martin ? ah so wish i'd done that now.

well after being inspired by martin21b (see above pic) i've started sculpting the grill. got the fibre glass rubbed down. i'll be starting on the filler soon too. also the second set of stock shocks arrived so i've been modding them, thanks go to frank and baguette for the advise and info. should fit them in the morning and then i'll be tackling the frank panhard bushes, with franks guidence of course. thats all for now folks. (Y)

fitted the shortened rear shocks this morning. super happy with the result. :p

now i need to do something with the fronts. i've got way too much play in the top shock mounts. this is where baguette and frank help me out again i'm running stock shocks with 2 coils chopped off stock k11 springs. i love the ride height and comfort but i've got vibrations. what do i need to do to sort these out? i really would rather stay with the k11 suspension. and i dont have money for corsa coilies. also, frank, could you please forward me the info on fitting your offset bushes? thanks alot. (Y)

i doubt if the suspension is causing the vibration mike fwn, is it worse at speed ?
and the offset bushes are very straight forward mate, you remove the nut from the axle and then lever the p/rod off the stump, then remove the old bush and fit the offset bushes with the hole to the left side :grinning:

no frank, its bad on crap roads. i jacked up the front and i've got a load of ply in the top shock mounts. they actually knock. high speed is wheel balance, low speed is out of shape tyre or buckled wheel so i know its none of these. am i best to drill out the top shock mounts to 12mm and fit a spacer? when i refitted the chopped springs i didnt need the spring compressors on and i tightened them down fully but had alot of play in the mount. i thought it would stiffen up with the weight of the car. fwn
