what did you do to your micra today ?

ive got 1mm washers spacers from the carrier to caliper there to centre the disc no rubbing but im using almera vented discs not gtir (pulsar) so i think the 3 mm needs to come off the disc andy
If I use spacers it will grind the brake pads, with no spacers on now it is just smooth with no grinds, I haven't bleeded it yet

brakes looking good

Force racing wheels? you certainly don't want to visit a gravel trap with those.

I'm fitting Micra brakes to a Mini hub, may even see if they'll squeeze under a 10" wheel.

Yup, I got Carl to make me up a set specifically to fit behind the brakes I had designed.

Hear ya on the gravel trap, that would be a monumental stuffage!

thats the same i fitted to mine last week make sure you get a good sharp 8mm drill bit to drill the spots out takes about 3 hrs all in to fit

I don't have clearance issue cos using 6.5jx15 et40 alloys and i use 1mm washer between hub & carrier to center the carrier onto the discs
Right the spacers on 1mm but if I got that on it will defo catch my rims, as they only 14inch but do u have to have the spacers in

It's very strange that you seem to be the only one the doesn't have spacing issues with those calipers. You do understand where the spacers go don't you? It's between the hub and carrier. Not the carrier and caliper.

That is very tight and it's having no problems ?

No, it was designed that way. The brief was to use a 280mm disc setup with a 13" wheel. Fine in everything circuit related but totally useless on a rally car or in a gravel trap ;)

So it was made for them rims ? They look great and guessing any power on them wouldn't matter

no pics se@n but there around 40 ish some more obvious than overs drill chisel them open steady as you go!!!!! first remove drivers headlight plastic undertrays wheel liners front bumper theres a few bolts lol then you see were your drilling andy

today I got my both wishbones at 60 pounds so let's compare Diffrents the rubber looks Diffrents then the other but same motor factor supplier and looks a same fit, the old ball joint got a Allen key fitting so it's easy to take off, the new one doesn't.
Now let's start some work on the drivers side got all my tools ready wheels off,

All done took me 20 mins and now it's very stiff no knocks,
Let's move on to next passenger side

the nuts on sway bar top was bit tight 14mm had to take this off on 2 nuts coz the rubber on the wish bone was bigger and wouldn't slide in like other one did, everything Else was all good, this passenger side I had the stock k11 brakes so changed over to gtir brakes all in took me 1 hour on this side,

if nothing is fouling, it ain't essential.
but in theory an offset caliper carrier could cause few issues:
- caliper carrier or edge of pad slides could scrape along the disc face when hot or disc is warped,
- excessive gap on one side of the disc from the brake pad sliders could lead to unsupported/jammed brake pad when the pads are getting very low,
- when new thick pads are installed and the slider pins bottom out or can't slide any further in to let the caliper move outwards cos the caliper carrier is too far inwards, it could cause the outer pad to bind & wear unevenly

This is second part after my wishbones was fitted while that was done I started on k11 brakes to gtir brakes so here comes the disk off brake line off,

took the caliper apart to check the fittings as u can see my hands all same as the brake fluid now. I took the calipers as I don't get the Diffrent with spacers or without and @pollyp and others was right if I don't fit one it catches on the bottom so if I had a pad fitted it will eat them up and grind the caliper u can see that on this
ed9a812c0c1b6a5880f4f62aab18e32c.jpg
now need to get 1mm spacers then bleed the brake system up, but I haven't got a helper ?

k11 and gtir brakes anyone can take the k11 brake set to good home.
f23b5439b063c99a146a8911da5b5de3.jpg
and same again it doesn't catch on the disk so will try with spacers on,

and that's one job done, any Diffrents in geniune wishbones or not @frank

Wheels were made to fit the brakes, (caliper offset etc). No power/torque limit I'd have any issues with.

I see someone has pinched your driveshaft, not sure how those drive flanges are held in the upright, but make sure its in the right place relative to the upright, perhaps it'll move a little with a CV joint in there?

Which drive shafts ?

Mines was from bullseye sure they same. ?

doesn't matter what supplier they're from, the common cheap & fast design & weld quality of where the arm meets the rear pin is still fatally flawed for the potential stress of these brakes to break them.
technically they're fine for original NA spec but once you upgrade to GTIR with sticky tyres on fast tracks especially with turbo then it's no surprise the weak flawed welds eventually show up.

I've now reinforced mine with more welds all around that pin to reduce any stress points

aye the driveshaft & nut holds the wheel bearing & hub together.

without the driveshaft & nut, the wheel hub is simply held onto the hub support via the tiny poor plastic clips in the wheel bearings that connects the outer bearing race together.

so PLEASE azzy do not push or turn the car around a corner when it's sitting on it's wheels with no dirveshafts cos otherwise ur wheels will buckle off and ruin the bearings (as I once found out yrs ago)
