Stainless manifolds group buy!

after recieving my janspeed in less than perfect condition (holes in it in fact) i have decided to find out how much i can get a stainless one made up.

here is the reply from a local exhaust manufacturer, they make custom exhausts for time attack cars, 350z roadsters, skylines, evos etc etc so theyre not a cheapo place.

if we can get 5 people interested in a lifetime warrenty manifold i can churn them out for £370 a piece including VAT.:love:

Hi,
I would need your car and manifold for a few days.

A Jig could be made to reproduce the new manifolds if pre orders were made for 5 Manifolds or more. This would mean that owners would not have to

With out seeing the manifold so the following is a bit of a guesstimate the cost would be around £370 inc VAT per Manifold based on an order of five

Manifolds would be correctly made in Stainless Steel using Mandrel bends/components as we sell. Flanges would be CNC cut in 6mm stainless, All welds would be TIG welded.

so come on guys, whos interested?:glance:

Does this company have a website? is it the one that a photo was recently shown of the system for the 350Z? or do you have photos of their work please.

Would this be a chance for those with air-con to get a manifold made that is made to suit just such a car?

Thanks

i can find the website for you and yes it is the same company that made the system for the 350Z...

the manifolds would be made up as an exact (or to near dimensions) of the janspeed system so would not fit the a/c equiped cars...... however once a jig is made up it would be simply a case of asking them to bend number 1 cylinder around the ac bracket..

or if they are fitting it onto my car they could mock up an ac pump and have it bend around that?????

ill find the wesite..

I might be interested but would want one that goes round the ac.

Also could they use the jig to make a smaller version for turbos?

I would be interested if you can get one to fit round the ac

Also can they use the jig to make a smaller one for a turbo?

im sure they can.... they quoted me £400 for the whole system from turbo back so im sure it would be about £350 for a turbo manifold in stainless...

but is that with a group buy discount? or is that a one off? because i wouldn't mind a turbo mount. where abouts are these people? if i gave them a car and asked them to make a turbo mount they could do it yea?

in lincoln.... im sure they could yes. i mean they weld, design and cnc machine anything you want realy.. £350 would be a one off on the turbo manifold (like what you can get for civic turbo's)

just had another chat with them and they can do the manifolds (janspeed copy) 4-2-1 in stainless for £350 for 5 and even less for more..

this would be less than HALF the price of the janspeed competition exhaust and less than 1/4 or the impul exhaust (if you can find one)

thats full on polished tig welded stainless steel lifetime guarantee manifold for £350 notes.

shame though as the pug 106 guys can get a janspeed for £150 and a stainless race-land manifold for £240........ the downside of having jap hey?

Any chance they could make one up to my own specs for a small increase? I want a stepped 4-1 :)

im defo interested anth when will this go ahead so i can gather funds mate then all i need is a stainless steel straight pipe for where the janspeed decat goes let me know mate

as soon as there is an interest for 5 or more people i can place a date for me to go there and get it done...

craig... i can ask about a 4-1 manifold matey...

so if i were to get these made up with the number 1 cylinder moved out of the way and a quote for any alterations?

stick your names down lads...

if i were to get these done they may have to all be with the kink in number 1 pipe (for ac) as i dont see them making 5 ac pipes and 5 non ac pipes..
no biggee as i doubt you will notice anyway and they will look better with more bends ..lol

draw me a diagram so i can see what ya mean mate as i dont have air con and never looked into an engine bay of a aircon one even though my lass has one

ok. the standard janspeed comes out of the head and bends under the car... the exhaust with air con on cylinder 1 bends to the right first then goes under the car...

heres some pics for comparison..

stock-ac-stock-ac-stock

the second and fourth pics are with air con..

yeah... so it will bend inwards towards the other three..... it will give you more room around the alternator and for those guys with air con, pansies..lol, then it enables them to have the alternator up near the top of the engine..like in pic 4

It would be a bit like that Kenny:

I would be interested in a manifold that goes around the a/c (Y)

Lol beat me to it!

ah kool well i am still interested come on guys this will be better than the janspeed as it wont rot away like the mild steel janspeed ones

cheers robb will be ok with me

if its just a little bend in the first cylinder then im happy for it to be made to fit ac models as it will also make it easier to fit without needing to take the front bumper and stuff off as it is a right pain trying to squeese it inbetween the alternator and radiator in such a small space

ant you know if it will be sleved just like the janspeed with a clamp to keep them togeather or will they be flanged

delivery wont be included although i can sort that out anyway through a currior.

they would be a direct copy of a janspeed but will be in 1 piece with a flange to bolt onto the cat. i could ask about having a flexi fitted to the middle to prevent cracking at a later date?

ant, i think thats why janspeed make them from thin steel (so that they can flex, and so that they dont crack at the welds)

yea thats true thats why im gettin worried about mine as i have had mine for nearly 2 year now would they be easy to fit then if they are all one i no i will have to take my arb off and my lower strut brace to fit it but it will be worth it

this is looking good mate, i can't commit to anything as i am not sure if i will have a job or not, but depending on how that goes i will either have none, or i will have a full one with the AC bend and maybe a turbo jobby too. do they need a doner car? because i have AC, i want a turbo manni that can fit between the AC pipes

anyone have a T2 i can test fit?

i have one....lol

they do need a donor car for a couple of days whilst they mock it up, i was gonna suggest mine but i dont have ac and theres no guarantee it will pas its mot on 2nd march either..lol

ill give the guy this thread address and you can ask him directly if you want to..

just got a reply (at 11pm!!)

Hi Antony,
Good to have some interest. And an interesting project it is.

The EX1000 4-2-1 Header should not be a problem at all, Looks a nice set up. And I could sort the 4 - 1 for the same money...even Jig that if there is interest.

The only thing I NEED to make this happen is to have a Car at my workshop for long enough to get all the work done and check and test the Jig made items (It takes more time to make a proper Jig than it does to make the header... but once made it does allow a near exact duplicate.

Keep me informed, The Diary is looking full to mid March at the moment with some bizarr jobs (Mk1 Golf with a Twin Turbo Rover V8 is just one of them..lol)

Cheers
Fin

so that would be a copy of the impul race exhaust for £350... and yes guys they will do a 4-1 manifold for the same price..

Right, how custom can I make it as I have some somewhat demanding specs on my shopping list - can you see if he will do a stepped one?

Also, I'm not looking to compromise smoothness to avoid an A/C pump I do not have, can I be catered for?

Good that he seems keen though! I have a car that I'm not using, but it would need to be taken up and back...

Craig

sure matey... im sure i can leave my car there and collect it again, afterall it may only be on a trailer anyway..lol

if you can give us the specs ill ask away and see what he can do.. i mean if its 5 AC manifolds and yours im sure he can do that for you...

OK, I need to wash as I've just got in from football - I'll wsend you a PM tomorrow....

Hello All

11:33pm and still working..lol

My names Fin and Im the Owner of Dynoflow UK

Id like to thank Antony for contacting me regarding the Headers. It is an interesting project for sure..... Im not one for doing the run of the mill Jobs when it comes to my fabrication side of the business. The more of a challenge the better as far as Im concerned.

Its a bit late in the evening now to get into the details but all I'll say is its only plumbing at the end of the day, so everything is possible.

The Picture of the EX1000 headers that Antony posted would be a similar construction method to what I would use. Only Mandrel bends, only TIG welded, built in component form.

If there is enough interest we could also look at producing an exhaust system to match the Headers...

It all comes down to if a car can be supplied for a long enough period of time...
Anyway enough for today...I'll pop back on tomorrow evening

Good to get logged on Micra.org.uk, Now let me know exactly what you want because Im reading your reply's(Y)

Cheers

right well i am willing to lend my Cabriolet, depending on if i can get it up there, also its MOT is due at some point i want that done before it gets left anywhere.

as far as i know the march engines are the same as the uk ones. i have an AC pump so it can be built to that.

also Antony, can i borrow your T2 or maybe buy it, so a manifold can be made up?

depending on where it is and if anyone is willing to give me a lift back, i can drag my car up with the towing gear i have and leave it there as long as it needs to.......

just so long as nobody leaves it out in the rain!!!! or at least puts the cover on it lol

lol...yeah matey i can sell you my turbo... its still works (exhausts a bit rusty though) but its a fully working T2 /T25 turbo from a s12 sylvia...
£60... and its yours..

its in lincoln matey. they will probs need it for three days i would have thought..

Do you want to stop by mine on the way and pick up a lower mounting alternator Nex?

We should really have a Dyno day after and see how they all go too ;)

what do you mean by a T2/25? i may have that off you at some point but for now lets get the manifolds made up. we will have to work out a way of getting my car up there some how

why? for your manifold you mean? probably the easiest thing to do is just take the altinator off so that they can make up one with out a bend in it... not sure what is different i will have to look at it

I could be interested in a turbo manifold.. My car has A/C but I've been considering ditching it anyway, so either would be ok with me if others are interested

i think this is just going to be for n/a manifolds at first, im sure a batch of turbo manifolds could be made up at a later date though..

I'd want a SS manifold without the extra A/C bends. As Craig mentioned I don't want to compromise on the flow if possible. So what does that leave me with, a Janspeed 4-2-1 SS replica or Craig's design? Interested in a flexi pipe if possible so as to avoid damage/wear through vibration.

Cheers
