what did you do to your micra today ?

Is it legal to have my battery in boot ? Coz I have no space in front and what gauge can I extend with, I know some have battery in boot

Yes its legal. Cable size you'll need the same size or larger to lessen the volt drop over the longer run. High quality jump lead cable might be a way to go.

Personally I'd only run one cable from the battery and join it up to the three wires via a busbar type idea.

To date have replaced with new the front ventilated disc's, brake pads, calliper pistons seals and bleed nipples and also rear drums, shoes and cylinders and painted the front callipers and rear drums mellow yellow! lol o_O

jacked up and tyres under for support, doing the inner cut out and having new inner done and then spot weld the outer in place

Almost bought a modified 1999 SI. Was a good car, just not good enough for me to warrant ditching the 1.3 we've got for, and was too good/expensive to break for parts. Oh well.

Well done mate you really have my respect, the amount of work you are undertaking would scare off so many other people!

Great project thanks for sharing! :)

At last I took the plunge and ordered (for Rouge 5 my late 2002 1.4SE+) a Cross Piper air filter and cleaning kit from the Cross Piper Shop, they were really friendly and helpful and the price was good and also free delivery even to here in the Tax Haven island lol! :p

@Andy5077 more to come but it was like p***ing in a fish tank, if u got a mig and all the inner sills and outer, with 1.2mm Mild plates it's very simple took me 2 hours and not rust free, thanks to one and only man who has told me on how to do it and what not @frank
Has short cuts and has gave me many advice and don't take 3 steps back take 1 step forward.
cd67b7ded8198f170c7454607ab9e271.jpg
took carpets off
Then this
eed0d82a57db3933c27b3961fac3c0fe.jpg
this was only so carpet don't burn with the sills getting hot. Also am not using it anymore and no more back seat
47b6874c24084cf8944883562288c8b3.jpg
marking where I wanted the inner lines so the outer fits on the line, then just tack welded it

here was the tack

36536e4d43e94d9df1109c3a69930299.jpg
did this by end to end inner only on few tacks then ended up with a stronger welds and next I came across a patch I had rusted so u cut out some sheets and welded it
a71c19900bd1fcb97d3d527b34818911.jpg
mig was the best welded I had ever used not even one burn through out and it was coming out very good, gasless, 0.8 mm. Now u can see where I made the patch
525dab1a195266a1cd6a2ed563513c86.jpg
it was all looking new now and the rust middle section got cut off which u don't need,
bc711b2cf93802f6939bb4243b631619.jpg
filled up the holes and good as new,
ebf1a5c627422b36156f8e1c21ac2999.jpg
you can see from the rear I have waxed oil all in the inner so no more rust,
0d5db534be9e991d1ab99c2708f094e9.jpg
cleaned the paint where I needed and welded on need to smooth it down,

ef8f722724f8263f300f5f0c36619644.jpg
and that's all done, the outer sill been drilled on bottom for spot welds more pictures to come Tommow, and more wax oil on the rear

good bye rust

Further to the new driveshaft/front dampers and the welding done this week, my little rattle box has failed the MoT on brakes. Took out the right rear cable and found it's as stiff as a dead dog's d***. Ho hum....

My new shiny new Hosetechnik arrive today and look great, they are braided stainless steel with a transparent carbon sleeve and high quality stainless steel fittings! Me's a happy chappy and Steffi Cab will love them lol! :)

Last few days :-

- Got the front roll cage feet welded up - see blog for more www.mattendean.co.uk
- Removed the now out of date seats, cleaned them up and now provisionally sold them :)
- Cleaned up the floor, whilst the seats are out and then re-sealed up holes in the floor pan. Also cleaned up other bits which are hard to reach, when the seats are in.
- Played around with lots of camera mounting points for my cheap (but good) GoPro copy camera. Think I have sorted it now, if I can find a way of flipping the images as the camera would be mounted upside down in its current planned location.
- Painted and waxoil'ed up the areas which were welded up.
- Played around finding suitable mounting points for the race rain light, think I have sussed this now (hidden in bumper), and tried mounts for a LED high level 3rd brake light.

Replaced wiper blades and alternator belt. Didn't have the tools to get the PAS / water pump belt off. It needed it!

woulda thought to remove any of the belts is just a basic 14mm spanner to loosen the pulley axle nut and then 12mm socket to screw up/down the tensioner to move the pulley & loosen the belt?
