Mark's 1.0L

There's neither the time or the inclination for that sort of thing currently - but it's a longer term consideration. I actually started separating a barrel and centre the other day, I ran out of time without getting it to separate, and have now weleded it back up in the stock position so I've get a set of wheels to get my tyres swapped on to.

I'll be back behind an old low merc at some point, wide wheels back on a small car is more likely in the shorter term though. Unless I can find someone willing to give me a BGT, Herald, Imp, Minor, etc..........(Its not like I'm asking for a Mk1 escort or Cooper - I'm not greedy!) I do hope there's a Jensen Interceptor some where in my automotive future too, and a proper steel late 50's style rod, 60's tiki surfwagon, series1 E-type FHC. What I lack is focus I think. And Finances.

..........

Satin blacked factory full wheel trims at the w/e I think. Prehaps a complete cahnge of style, maybe a subtle hot rod or maybe salt flats influence - or maybe nothing, who knows.

Not much point selling a car that's barely worth anything! Its got nearly a full years ticket - It's not going anywhere!

I know what you mean there:wasntme:

I'd like to see this with some chrome rim embelishers and your lo-spec trims on wheels, spaced to fit arches. Instead of full trims.(Y)

Yeah, that's probably right matt, but I have no monies to spend on such fripperies.

I am however feeling some wheel trim love, in a beggars cant be choosers kind of way.

I meant to post this pic then, but now I'm a non-paid up forum only member I have lost my editing rights.

No more extra holes on the 7's... kinda lol will be on tomorrow for the meet!

Are you not gonna come look see?

Hi mate

Love what you've done !

Any chance you could tell me how many coils youve cut all together of the front and rear ? Also did you take the spring of the strut or did you do it whilst in place ?

Sort some pics out if you could, i dont even know where to cut them !

I almost put a response to this effect in your lowering springs wanted thread - just tidy the end of the broken one and trim the other side to suit.

I'm having some difficulty remembering what I've taken off as its been done in a couple of hits. I think I'm the dead coil + 2 on the front and the dead coil plus 2.5 on the back, but I might be .5 a coil less than that all round - I certainly wouldn't take all of that off in one go!

The rears come out easily, the fronts I cut on the stuts, but with the struts off the car. The fronts will need wiring or cable tie-ing into the seats and you'll need some method of reducing the droop at the rear to stop the rears unseating and falling out.

Watch the breaking as well, I've experienced what I'm sure is the brake bias compensator valve over compensating for what it "thinks" is a heavy load in the rear, compounded by having rock hard part worns on the back.

Cheak out my blog for the tourqoise car, there's more detail in there, bar an etra half coil off the rear i just took the stuts and rear springs off that and fitted them to the red car.

Getting back on track!

I popped the Super-S, dials that I picked up on Sat morning, in during my break. So a little step closer to where I was before my big sell off. I also got a couple of other parts from the same car, which will allow me to investigate some other plans I had before.

No pics, I sure that you either know, or can imagine what black faced, pre-facelift, tacho dials look like, and if you can't, go back a few pages in my blog and you'll see the last set.

There's no likelihood of cool wheels at the mo, but at least there's some positive progress being made.

I like that alot.
Spoiler would spoil how smooth it looks.
only niggle, the bumpers are brighter.. haha.

Hey, Mark... I like the car, well done (Y)
But there's something missing, mate :wasntme:
In every car you've shown on here, there's something that make's them your very own, makes them stand out.
The Mark Bognor's effect... I'd love to see that sweet looking car touched by it..

I have some ideas, but even less money than ever to see them through. Mirrors with a kind of retro motorsport theme, a nagging feeling that I should have a ducktail spoiler and an exhaust inspired by the smallest product offered by BMC. I was loaned a set of wheels yesterday. Nothing very special width wise - 5x13 but they have a fairly low offset and a retro style. The word Abarth is in the casting. I know what colour they are going, and the rim will be polished. Biggest problem will be the hubcentric spacers required to get them sitting right and mounted properly with wobble nuts.

I grabbed a couple of pics while out and about today.

When I got home I watched a set of 7x13 Superlites end on Ebay for under £90. Wrapped in 175/50 Yokos too. Unfortunately they were collect only and in manchester, oh yeah, and I have no money. :(

The car still looks awesome even without any fancy wheels :D I'd definitely keep an eye out for some Superlites though when you can afford them, they'd look gorgeous on a Micra.

Cheers for the nice comments guys.

Options......

Over the past couple of months I have been weighing up some wheel options. I've been offered a couple of sets of wheels on long term loan. The first are a set of Astrali in either 5 or 5.5 x 13, in a fairly low offset, which currently look like this:

They are pretty battered and I'm having a bit of a mare getting the huge gravel spec tyres off of them. They will be hard work getting them cleaned up to use and several of the raised veins on the face are dinked and will show up when polished.

The others are a set of Cromodora, in 5 x 13 these are in much nicer overall condition and will look cracking with the face of the spokes and the lips polished. I'm thinking gold for the background colour.

I've started the polishing on that one.

Both sets meet my criteria price wise, but I'm unfortunately also severly lacking in time to get them looking good. Being 13"s of course they will take my current tyres so that keeps the over all costs down.

They each have their own centre bore and PCD issues, the Cromodora set are a not unsurprising 4x98 with a CB of 58.1 and the Astrali set are 4x4" with a larger than 59.1 CB. Each presenting their own problems.

I'm pretty much set on the Cromodoras at the mo, what do you guys recon?
