When i remove this drum. it was loose to came out. i dont know why so can anyone tell me please. my other facelift's drum was stuck to remove so i had to use hammer and chisel to remove this facelift's drum.
anyway, do i need to get new drum or use angle grinder to sand it (like a brand new drum) is this rear brake kit ok? is it time to replace new rear brake kit?

I am planning to get this rear brake kit.... Shall i?

I need to replace new brake pads and new disc.... RH cv gaiter is ok. This caliper need to be re-servicing soon.
 
Down pipe.... does this need to be replace new down pipe soon? (last mot, i changed new centre pipe and backbox. Middle Cat converter is very good for this car age. I am not sure about front cat.)

Sump.... oily surface on the side of this sump???? is it minor or need to put new sump gasket?

Nobody rely lol....

I spent my time to look up on search bar properly. it was useful to find out lol.

  • My brake drums was loose and easy to come out because i put handbrake down.:rolleyes:
  • Will need to put new brake shoes and wheel cylinder kit on both sides.
  • Both brake discs are slightly worn out soon so i need to replace new brake discs soon.
  • I should do re service on both calipers so i haven't done it since feb 2012.
  • Down pipe will need to be change new one soon.
I need to buy angle grinder to sanding and polishing on these brake drums and calipers. I don't know about leaking on the side of this sump so its better to wash out then i can check it in few weeks time. No clue on this RH front shock so tomorrow, i will wash this shock nicely.
 
Hello m8! how are you? I'd say you better get new discs. Here new discs cost like 25 euros :D Also drum cylinders are much cheaper than repair kit. Better keep eye on that shock.

Check out drums also, if there is alot grooves.
 
Finally, someone rely now lol. :) Yes mate, I am good. All is good. Ok, I will get new discs soon. I am afraid this car is standard so I will stick with standard disc. Ok, I will find more information about drum cylinders. By the way, thanks for the comment. :)

Oh yea, I will keep my eyes on this shock.

Yeah make sure you sort those brakes out right jk, id say they're pretty important :p. Mind you don't rush into it too much, change them too often you end up just always bedding in and never getting full strength.
Have you decided definitely not to mod this year then?
 
Also the sump looks ok, if that's the most it leaks then personally I wouldn't bother unless it got worse cause disturbing it can make it worse even with new gaskets (my new ones aren't perfect). Dunno about that shock... Keep an eye on it I guess. And downpipe looks ok/like my old one but if you can feel its weak and may break soon then its a different story.
 
Thanks joe. It will take times to get these parts soon. Well, I am still finding out about insurance companies ATM. I am planning to put my dad name then I will be third party driver with all mods declared. It will be cheaper if my dad take over this Micra hopefully. :)
 
Little update so far....

I went to my uncle place to sort this timing out so its ok now (its for free:eek:) . I am very happy today cos i bought engine oil of my uncle so its £15 for 4l castrol gx 10w40 (uncle's special discount offer.;) ) And also i went to euro car parts to bought some parts too. There are more to do.

These things that i bought it so far....
  • 4L Castrol GX 10w40 engine oil

  • Fuel filter
  • Air filter
  • Bosch super plus spark plugs
  • Engine flush

I need to buy more parts soon....
  • new brake pads

  • 5L anti-freeze coolant
  • Decent tyres. it will be top quality tyres i hope so
  • grease (3in1 oil, wd-40 and copper grease etc)
  • And finally, i need parts for my super s too.
Things that i want to get it for myself soon.
  • nice collection of tool set (250 piece)
  • angle grinder
  • drill
  • machines
  • air compressor with any head parts
  • axle stands
  • large trolley jack
  • car clamps
  • decent gas welder
  • wash pressure
  • and more so on.
I aint got time to do major service now so i will do it in next week anytime. I just want to sort out my gx so will need to replace most parts soon. I need to sort out my insurance as well.

Update:..............

I did service my car today so it was so happy to do it. :) My car is getting better now than before. It will be no more cut outs hopefully. I got to find out tomorrow morning. :)

In my super s, there are two brand new wheels so i swapped with two worn out wheels from my gx. Don't worry, i got sr alloys for my super s so i need to find 4 decent tyres in soon.

Old oil from my gx. its about under 2L. it was shocking. :eek: I do check with oil sticks so i knew it that i got low level oil.

This oil filter was challenging with me. i was so mad so i end up to stab with old cross screwdriver. before i used to do with my hands. this time was so hard and stuck. Oil spill out so i had to put old bag with mud over it.

I fill up with 3.1L oil so i got about 900ml leftover. i will keep it for a while.

I checked this old fuel filter so it was so clean. i had to change new fuel filter. (old one is getting rust on the surface area.)#

Good news to my cousin who got in my uncle's garage so now, he can fix it for free. :) He will help me to start my super s project soon. I think i don't need to buy tools or machines hopefully.

Right now, i need to do or to get done asap:
  • water pump and belts will be replace soon.
  • new coolant water.
  • LH cv gaiter need to change new.
  • Need to get two decent tyres for only gx's front wheels. it will be same brands as new wheels from super s.
  • Need to order new brake discs and pads soon.
It will be almost to done these above.
Few last jobs will be:
  • change new clutch
  • replace gearbox with working reserve light wiring
  • flexible poly bushes.
  • rust treatment and waxoil underneath sealant.
 
Oh yea i forget to add some more...

- new lambda plug
- need to do wheel alignment and tracking soon.

Some more pictures will come tomorrow.
 
"theres nothing wrong with those rear brakes, aside from the right hand cylinder is leaking

the fronts could do with new discs but theres a third left on the pads

droplink bushes are perished, doesnt really matter, replace with polybushes and theyll never go again

downpipe and cat are whatever, wont need replacing til they go through

sump needs a new gasket OR a new crank seal, hard to tell which

and shocks borked"
 
Thanks skymera. Better information advice. I will check with these parts again so i will find out if they are need to replace or not. cheers jk.
 
Just Little update so far.......

Cut out is still on :( so i have to sort out this problem in next week.
Bought used brake pads so will fit them on this Monday or Tuesday.
Going to order water pump, two belts, 5L fresh coolant water and fluids/greases from euro car parts. it will be happen in this weekend or next week mon/tues.

More updates will come soon. :)
 
Be careful buying used pads. Id check the thickness of the material to make sure they are not uneven and the wear is good. Going back to your old pictures. The dampness oil patching around your crankshaft pulley could be an oil seal..and your shock looks like it's leaking. Do a bounce test in that corner and push down on the vehicle. Should come to a rest within 1 and a half times.

Nice to see your giving both your micras love, I was in the same situation once when I had my super s and my shape.
 
Another advice. Thanks Jay. :) I will do bounce test tomorrow. I think this oil patch is minor so i will keep my eyes on this oil patch weekly. I want to keep both micras cos i need my local car (blue gx) and going out car (super s). :)

Edit: i bought used brake pads of belly so it will be ok for while.
 
Used brake pads that i bought from belly. Thanks to Belly. I haven't got it yet so i am waiting for them to come my house. i will fit them on this mon or tues.

I sort with my insurance today so i am happy but no modification parts until next year. :( It going to be hard time for me now ('standard micra') cos i want to modify my micra. :( Still i will save a lot of the money though. (In soon, i will hide myself so i will add some parts.:cool:) BTW insurance companies are jokers!

I clean some areas on my engine bay today so it's good looking but there are more to clean up. I look around gearbox today so there is one or two bolts are missing FFS. I am not happy with my uncle's staff so there is no point to come back to complain about this situation.

I can fix anything as I am practical hands skills. I want to fix myself from nowadays.

Is it easy to put new clutch in?

I was watching with my unlce's staff who took my gearbox out then put good used gearbox in. His method is long way to do it. Frank's method is very quick way to do it so I read one of threads somewhere. I got find this thread about frank's changing clutch/gearbox method.

I want to fix myself which are:
-change new water pump.
-change two new belts.
-change new clutch.
-replace another good working used gearbox.
-change new whole braking system.
-maybe more jobs

I will order these parts in slowly weeks time.

I won't do anything until I need to insure with other cars. I got exams as well so it will take times to get free dates to fix this car.

I went to my Uncle's garage today so he done the battery test on my battery.

The receipt said.....

Test-Result
Voltage: 13.53v
Start Capacity: 46%
Battery Unserviceable

It's most likely to bad/faulty battery so in soon, I need to change new battery. Alternator is good. It's one solution so far so I haven't find any problems with dizzy, drive belts, water pump and more so on. I will update soon when I put new parts in.

Little update:

Is busy ATM cos I am helping my cousin's shop to refurbish everything nicely. I am stuck with my time on these Micras. :( His shop will be sort it by next mon. Been there since last mon. :s (same comments from other blog.)

I haven't sort this brake pads so I need to change good used brake pads soon. There is one cv gaiter spilt so it started to knock sometimes when I turns. Oh yea, I bought and collected 2.5t 4x4 halfords trolley jack and two 3tonnes axle stands from High Wycombe . It was barely used so I got them for £40 which is not bad for me.

Sadly, this car is so dirty and damage inside everywhere badly. I was helping my cousin's shop so I dumped alot of rubbish in his local dump site. It was 18 times to go and come back. (7miles per dump trip) When this shop sort it then I will fix this car properly soon.
 
Maaaaaybe... lol. Theres a red escort cossie round my way with a white bonnet. Looks immense :) Black bonnet is the way to go though.

From motorway exit m40 roundabout. It's in A404 road. Do you live close by? I know u live there so I was going to ask u before but my time is a problem. I went there then come back here quickly.
 
Little update....

I changed good used brake pads which was easy job to do. I changed all tyres from 155 into 175. it was ok to run and better braking but i save more petrol though. I added only two sr alloys on the front so its good looking. :) I put fuel treatment before i went to motorways so it was better and smooth running at 70mph. Everything is prefect atm expect few rust areas so MOT is coming soon. I hope that i will pass or to do something before mot due. I got fine for no doorcards so i transferred from my super s's doorcards to this gx for temporary weeks. In soon, it will be no black bonnet anymore because i am fed up with police who want to pull over and check up with my car so its better to get blue bonnet. still, it will be better looking if i got whole blue car with silver sr alloys. :)


unfortunately, no photos so i dont have a phone since two weeks ago. (my phone got ran over by cars so everything are mess up into pieces. :( it will be done by this week anytime. fingers cross.)
 
little update.....

alternator belt was snapped from 6 lines into 4 lines :eek: so it started to make funny noises. it was terrible looking so i will upload a picture of this crap alternator belt soon. (my phone is getting fix tomo.) i changed new one so it was perfect but i need to change new water pump and water pump belt soon. And also i topped up engine oil.
 
Little Update so far.....

I got new phone now so i can post any pics now. :) I changed new alternator belt so this original alternator belt is very bad condition so i will post pics later on. In soon, i need to change new water pump, water pump belt, new coolant, two cv joint kits and will swap from gx seats to super s seats. ( It will be temporary for a while.) I may bring this gx to jae on sunday hopefully so i need to sort these problems first.
 
Mot is coming on nov time. I am so worried because this car got problems since early summer. I didn't have time to do it. I know this car mot will be fail. I should fit these problems before. :(

It will be a fortune so I think I need to buy another micra in nov time.

Edit: it's so sad so it's been for almost two years now.
 
I may move into my super s which i will save the money. I think there is no point to buy another micra. It's better to stick what I have got leftover cars. I know it's so rare but I was going to keep this super s in a safe garage for two years time. All I need is to sort these rusts, mot, road tax and need to inform to my insurance that I want swap over.

If all these are done then I may to put this super s into daily track or turbo. 2014, bring it on!

First turbo part is auto gauge rev counter so far. There are more parts to buy. My second turbo part will be garrett. I am still finding one ATM. :)
