It's weird! I've never had a problem and mine are 13 yrs old...

I guess it's the power difference? Bear in mind that mine is used in very harsh conditions though :/

Think twas a combination of unlubed bushes, weak design & manufacture quality, and much higher braking torque forces & frequency from the big brakes on sticky tyres on smooth tarmac over many trackdays.

Yeah... It's just odd, over the 4 years of rallying mine still seem fine!
 
Oh bejesus.... It works.!!!

It's not 100% setup yet, but I did a 10psi low boost run with the gain all the way down and it's spinning up in 4th gear on 195/50/15 toyos............

blown the turbo up....

There was a squeaking sound, then loss of power and lots of oily smoke. But the engine is fine
I was out dragging an rx8 at the time.....slow cars lol...

Anyone got a td04 d9 going spare?? Frank?
 
No the engine is fine, noisy but fine.

Was uber rich when it went poop...

Any ideas guys?

Any other turbo would be expensive and would need another manifold and downpipe....
 
Exact replacements tend to come in pairs as they were on the twin turbo 3000gt.

But you're right. Pull it off and take a look.
 
Oil pouring out through the compressor seal... Turbine side coked up like an old diesel train.....

Bearings look burned. Shaft looks worn...

But also the blades look damaged too...

Grr.

Anyone got a cga3 spare bottom end or a set of forged cg13 pistons ? Lol

Just thinking actually. The chance block won't fit the preface 1.0 box will it?

I'll keep you in mind dave. .. as depending on my next pay day and what I can sell. I might go forged motorbike internals. Lol

@frank with the measurements here. Do you see any problems fitting these in a cg13?

The compression ratio I'm sure will be quite low...

So. Things change.

I no longer have a turbo on the micra.

I bought an sr20 engine n box.

I'm skint lol.

And my wife is now two people instead of one.

There comes a time when you've got to reevaluate your life. And your future depends on such events.

I might have to cut my spending to the bare minimum.

And that means that the micra and everything that I have for it needs to go. Before I am able to spin a spanner in anger.

Before the vultures start circling...and before anything is set in stone. If I do sell up... it will be as a job lot.

I am not in any position to be stripping parts off cars. No driveway. ..no garage. ...limited tools and a bad back. ...

So if you are interested in a project.... with one MINT 3 door tin top shell with zero rust.
An sr20 redtop engine with gearbox and some other crap I have lying around.
Keep your eyes peeled.

It's sad times. But family before cars...
