My New Toy

HEHE!!! great news Ollie!!! bet your pleased!!
have you lowered the boost pressure yet?

is that it completely finished or lots left to play around with?

Well the boost pressure doesn't read full until the the gearbox is engaged, not too sure why?? lol.

At the moment it's running at 1 bar of boost. WIll take it down to around 0.7, May just change the actuator, as I have another actuator set at 0.7 bar. will also fit a more suitable boost gauge, this one tops at 1.5 bar.

I need to bleed the brakes, align the steering, stop 2 small oil leaks (one from sump, one from oil pressure sender) and replace the alternator belt. Nothing major though.

As she's been running lovely, I've treated her to something new.

mmmmm nice bush

Have also picked up some Series 2 RS Turbo Alloys, which come pay day will be sent off for powder coating. And return in a nice shiny black colour. Am also contemplating before replacing all the bushes, removing the bits that need to come off anyway and getting them powder coated too. Hmm decisions decisons....oh and $$$

ollie

that should stop it weaving across the road eh ?
those ford wishbones are the s#ite, they fail the mot every year in my experience

Well half the bushes need doing for the MOT in May, so thinking, might as well replace and upgrade the bushes all round, managed to get this entire set for just under £100 including postage.

Next for MOT is an Exhuast.........now where do I buy an Exhaust for an Orion Turbo??? hmmm lol

Yes it is, if I get a standard system I could just extend the tip, just useless with a welder :(

Someone was telling me of a replacement exhaust they got for an Orion which consisted of an Escort Exhaust and another bit which was just hammered on the end lol

ollie

i seem to remember fitting orion b/boxes to escorts then air sawing the excess off while the owner was,nt looking :wasntme:

Yes, I might just get a custom exhaust, and re route it to go behind the spring rather than go underneath the rear axle. Thats the worst design ever, bored of whacking that bit of the exhaust on speed bumps!!

Beautiful example of an Essex classic, M8.

Well....Strictly speaking 2 Essex Classics merged together. A MKII Orion and an Escort RS Turbo. lol

The car is just in remarkable condition for 1 its age, and 2 it's badge! lol.

Cheers for the comment :D

Best of both worlds M8. My nephew managed to source a S2 RS Turbo which looked the business and went like it, too. Great to see some real originality on the roads.

Well mines not amazing performance at the moment, have set it to stock 0.5 bar (roughly 132 BHP). But i've only just got it running reliably, off to be rolling roaded and engine set up at the end of the month.

Look what turned up today :D

Now the extremly boring task of fitting them, just need to sort out a new set of suspension. Going to raise the car as well. On some old -40mm drop springs and they suck, going to a set of -20mm drop springs, on brand new shocks, thinking going for some Spax.

Ooooh look what I just won, Geniune RS side skirts, never been fitted

£45 including postage, very good price seeing as how rare they are!
