OK, it's not a micra, but I couldn't resist this, the car itself is actually amazing!!!

1989 Ford Orion GHIA I - 1.6 Litre. The bodywork is in absoloutly mint condition, there's not a spot of rust on the outside, the bottom has all been wax oiled and is solid as a rock! the car has 89,000 genuine miles and looks like it has only just left the show room. Could not find a single fault on it!

The car also has a Kent CAM fitted, K&N filter, lowered, alloys. Absoloutly brilliant. I'll be picking her up next week and I couldn't be happier. Don't worry I'll still be keeping the Micra!

£600, sounds a lot for an 18 year old car. But it's the best condition ford I have ever seen! Especially with the Kent Cam. The engine sounds better than my m8s orion thats just been re-built. Was only MOTd last month!

Attached is a few pics i took when I was there!

Thats well cheap!!

Old fords are mint, thats when if something ####ed up on it, you could fix it with foil tape and rope :p

Ryan.

Well think I'm actually gonna keep this standard on the outside and play with the engine.

Either gonna be a 1.6 Turbo or 1.9 N/A. At the moment its a 1.6 Kent Cammed beast!

Well we've got a 1.6 Turbo lump (complete engine, manifold, gearbox etc,) and it's just a straight bolt on. Also got a 1.9 Bottom end which i'm told with a few bits can work with my 1.6 Kent Cammed Head.

My mates gonna have 1 engine in his Orion, and I'm gonna have the other engine, just a choice of deciding who gets what!

I don't think you could class a 1.6 N/A light tune ford motor as a "beast" in any respect.

PLus could think of so many better engines to throw back there :p

my dad had a orion ghia a long while back, the engine went forever! went round the clock twice on the orginal engine, the only thing wrong with it finally was rust, but one fo the best fords ever! i always loved the rear lights, nice find mate!

needs the stndard alloys putting back on imo. infact keep the whole car standard as they are getting rare. if it was mine i wouldnt mess with it.

no offence but even if you tune the 1.6 turbo engine it will make pants bhp. the ford engines are rubbish for performance. even the rs turbo escort is pants, all these lads spend ££££'s on them and only get near 200bhp! imo its not worth messing with, also you will be de-valuing it.

I'm not going to touch the external of the car, it looks gorgeous as it is!

the RS turbo lump may go in, i'm not certain on that, i don't want it for performance, I want it for the dump valve, does that make me a chav? lol

Woohoo!!!

Got myself a turbo engine!!!
Recently re-built 1.6 Turbo Engine, complete with inlet and exhaust manifolds, Garrett Turbo, it's either a T3 or T28 i think and ECU. It's off of a Mk 4 Escort RS Turbo, so a piece of pie swap, same mounts. So just a simple plug and play and I've been told a slight mod to the loom. Hoping to have the conversion done in a couple of weeks!!! woohoo!!!

Well started work on the Orion. Engine is on it's way out, should be out tomorrow. Got the RS turbo engine with the car now. Will add a few pictures tomorrow. Progress, not amazing, but here it is anyways.

Well got some progress done today. The old CVH is out! BYEEEEEE
The new RS Turbo engine is in, the RS Turbo loom is pretty much in (a few cables to connect and some wiring to the dials (rev, oil sender, some earths)
The turbo and manifold are connected, radiator and intecooler are in place. Distributor alternator and starter motor are all in place, a lot of the water plumbing is done, some of the turbo piping is done.

In no particular order, here's some photos!

lol, that's Daz, my childhood best friend! WIll most deffo keep up the good work! The orions running on 2 ecu's now! from none to 2! lol. Good ole ford!

Ah my Micra will be having an engine swap soon! It's all fun!

Little update tonight.

Charge carrier is now fitted onto the correct rocker cover, a mate helping fitted the wrong one. hehe.

Also the dials have been removed as my friend is coming to finish off the wiring for me, connect the rev counter, oil light, ignition, etc.

Alan, yes I will bring it round! Although I'll probably need to phone the RAC somewhere between the M23 and the A249 to be towed!

Napster, the fuel computer is useless!!! It's usually sitting on 0mpg and then randomly jumps to 99.9mpg, and averages about 4mpg. It's not been connected to the RS Turbo engine so will be sitting on 0mpg all the time and beeping at me saying i'm about to run out of petrol!

James is Jealous, he loved the car when I took him for a drive, when it was a N/A 1.6!

New Silicone Hoses for the little beast

ohhh....ok...i agree now lol......get rid of it! useless and your getting rid of weight  although an RS would not exactly have trouble shifting that lol!!!!!

Someone i knew from back in the day used to run an white orion giha, while i drove a Mk3 Escort 1.3 with xr3 goodies...primative cars but old skool gangta.

Respect

P.S. Keep it std looking, it'll pee the Audi Tdi reps off even more when you scream past em.

It will stay standard looking, the most i'll do is fit the Orion RS Bodykit, still factory looking just a little classier!

The car's so clean! It's the cleanest 18 year old ford i've ever seen! Not even had any work done on it! schweeet!

Got your text quite late - pleased your turbo's been done! What power is that running now? bring it over sometime ;)

Don't really know what power it's running, I'd hazard a guess and say around the 135 BHP mark. SOOOOO much fun though!

Will bring it over mate, just don't want to do too much of a long drive until I know it's working (or i've repaired it so many times I know it inside out)

I've only got it set running at the minimal boost the turbo will let me, until I've got used to driving it!

Just like all Ford CVH engines, I have oil splashed over the engine bay!!!
Yesterday we blew the dip stick out, today I blew the oil filler cap off!!!

Well a little update.

I blew the turbo up, my friend who knew about the engines (yeah right) set the turbo up incorrectly and I was running at 1.4 bar....whoops. lol.

Well I now have a new turbo, and have done my research and have the engine running at a reasonable 0.6 bar. Ford state as standard 0.45-0.55 Bar. So i'm pretty much there. I have installed the bailey dump valve. Have just got some red silicone tube to replace the blue/purple one.
I have some new rear shocks to install as well as Escort RS Turbo brakes. Discs are slightly bigger so should help with my braking. Here's a few camera phone pictures of the update. Have also replaced the alloys with ford 7 spoke alloys (same alloys as used on the series 1 rs Turbos)

Will also be replacing the horrible red fuel lines with braided fuel lines!

Ollie

Well no....not taxing it until February. Want to replace the brakes and rear shocks. Along with rear tyres before I bring it back out on the road! When it's legal again I shall be taking the engine to be set up correctly. Need the AFR set up correctly along with the timing. Both are done well enough to get the engine running but really need to be done correctly. The AFR was set up on a cold engine so that most deffo needs correcting.

I think I will fit a piper or kent cam at some point and uprate the actuator and get the engine set up to run at around 0.9-1 Bar. I won't push it any further than this. Although I do have the AP racing head gasket and clutch. So could probably push it a bit more!

New Distributor fitted. All is good!!!

Tomorrow, replace rear shocks, change front brakes for RS Turbo Calippers, Discs and Pads, replace the oil sender switch, adjust the metering unit (with the aid of a CO meter), and lower the boost from 1 bar to a more sensible 0.7 bar.
