Curtis' micra k10

dont bother getting different hubs or whatever.

just take the 2 wheels to a machining shop and get them to enlarge the centre bore on a lathe, got the wheels for lauras done locally and they charged £20 for 4.

Ok well Most of you now know that i have bought the white k10 from corbs.

So here goes again lol!!

I bought the car, and drove it home.

The car ran fine, but i must say it was tapping worse then a fiesta that has been ragged about by a chav!

So first thing i did was all the tappits/ value clearances.

Most were out and i adjusted. then i changed the distributer cap, and replaced the spark plugs with NGK v-groove plugs!

It runs a bit better now, also added a litre of oil!

I the ripped out all of the wiring for the cdplayer/radio due to the mess of it all really.

Cd player is now in and amp hooked up!

More updates to come!

tasty :D

I'd run thicker head unit wires if i were you, my stock ones melted the other day and i know there was nothing wrong with my wiring! I've used 16awg OFC speaker wire but it's doing the job really well, no headunit lights dimming any more! mines 4x50w + 1 preout if you wondered, though i only run amps on the pre out.

yes the other day in my super the pre out on the cd player went up in smoke, but it only damaged the cdplayer all car electrics still worked?!? strange.

I'd get yourself a timing belt cover for the engine. Why it's missing is very strange - if something hits that when your driving along, stone etc and it displaces it, that's your engine destroyed.

I can only assume that Ian must have forgotten to put it back when he had the engine out?
Same goes for the tappets/valve clearances I guess. Not having owned or been in a K10 before I had no idea what it should sound like! Better off in the hands of an expert :)
Looking forward to seeing the updates!

... By the way, what are your thoughts on the alloys? Personally I think they look alright in real life but not so great in photos. Had thought of getting one of my 4 sets of Almera GTi wheels done in white or black, think that would look good, or even a dark bronze?

yes the car looks great on the outside, BUT and its a big one! lol

ITS GOT BROWN INTERIOR!!! ganny stuff!! errrrr.....lol

i gotta get my hands on a super s interior set!! ASAP!!

i can spray the dash etc, but i need new carpet and super s seats!

Arrrrrgh brown! i had this same problem nearly finished the interior now tho and its looking ace (Y) sprayyed the dash died the carpet and have just got miself a set of black mr2 seats :D:D:D

lol i thought about you spraying it in your car and was thinking about how hard that would be!! lol

Plans include:

INTERIOR!!!!! lol
I want a webber maybe twins!
Also a modifiyed inlet maifold

get all the rust off it! and all the bodged rust repair work.

Sound system.....IN after rewiring the cd player wiring!

remote central locking kit

Full exhaust system including my 4-2-1 maifold done by Longlife exhaust

Short ratio gearbox

Engine re-build maybe?!? previsous onwer re-built it, but im not sure about how they did it, seems not everything was done correctly...e.g. all the value clearences were out!!

Get my 15" R2 alloys sorted to fit

Kyb gas shocks

Roll arches, due to alloys, might have to modify the bodykit to fit as well!

front speakers

boot build!

Tint back window...sides already done!

And lots more!!!!

From seeing the car, i think you should fix the drivers door. the damage to the lock, and the fact it uses seperate keys for the ignition, would probably indicate it's been previously broken into and either stolen or at least tried to get the ignition going. An alarm/immobilizer would be a good idea too.

Also, remove the side skirts and check for rust underneath, as they looked like they might be concealing something nasty behind them.

And urgently get a timing belt cover for the engine!

yeh alarm is in the post.

Timing cover n anything else i can find is scrap yard on friday

the drivers door uses the same key?!?

i have been locking and unlocking it and starting the car with the sliver key (no plastic grip).

I have to use the plastic grip one for the boot.

Really?! Thats worrying, I always used the black key for the doors and silver for ignition!

When you're doing the rust, why not de-lock it and smooth over the lock area? Then get some poppers :)

duno really, i've never thought about smoothing the doors over, i haven't done much research about door popers etc, so ill do some in a bit.

yeh ill take some pics....its amazing how many dent have started to appear....everytime i look at the passengers side of the car theres another one!! lol

i have that problem, but then i work at a tesco, and the customers have a habit a banging there doors and trollys on the staff cars with out a care in the world

easiest to just replace the doors, boot and wings doors are about £15, wings £10 boots £20 cheaper than a respray if you have a good scrappy near

i just wait until a nice straight panel comes along and they do turn up :) white is very very common too which helps

ok rust is going! ive got some stuff and im getting rid of it all.

I also got some interior paint (black) so all interior is going black including the dash! yay!! (Y)

OK Big update time!

First of all the white micra gs has now been sold to someone from Glasgow. He knows about the club and will probably here about it soon hopefully. He seemed really into the car and even though was 12.30am when he arrived he still had a big smile on his face!

Ok next we have my new car.....no pics as of yet, but it is known throughout the club!

Some of you might no like me for buying it, but i love the car and thats why i payed what he was asking for it. He had his reasons and was "umming" and "rrrrring" throughout the whole process! lol

You will all know the car as Speedle's micra!

( i can hear Arnold dialing Matt's number now! lol)

wah! you bought the beast! i would've died a little inside selling such a brilliant k10! good news that its staying in the club tho. have you looked into insurance? those webbers might do some damage to your premium?

yeh thats what i thought, it should stay in the club!

Insurance.......i just ticked the engine modifications +20% box! :p

LMAO +20%

was there not a +90%box then? :p

anyway peeps what with moving out of my flat and various other things happening that i wont discuss the k10 had to go. i just didnt have the time to spend on her anymore and needed something more suited to being a daily driver.

ill miss the car but its quite clear curtis will give her a great home :) its a great k10 but i did what i wanted to achieve which was build a very quick k10 using an ma10 lump :) sigh.........................

lol nah thats the top!

i have a couple of plans, but there not going to happen straight away due to me owing everybody money now! lol

First thing is to get the carbs tuned.

My dad (30 years experience in drag racing) says that the 1.0L is being over fuelled way to much!, as speedle said, it does run a bit rich....lol

I would like to change the alloys to my fox alloys, i just like silver alloys compared to the lenso's, so if i get the right price ;)

Maybe colour code the mirrors

get the rest of the bumper stips off

sound proof the floor, most of the car already done! does make such a difference!!

Clean the engine bay

and some more, but not a lot happening at the mo!

curtis, good to see that you have speedles micra now. if you ever think of selling those lenso alloys i will be first in line ok. i am only local in halesowen/worcestershire, south west birmingham so its pretty local.

Nice!

An awesome looking car and i bet it shifts too!

Your going through K10's quickly though! Whats that, 4/5 you've had now? :p

yes tis my 4th

Lenso's are for sale! soon as my other alloys are sorted, should be about a week. considering they have recently had new tyres costing £220, i am after £350 for them. They are on piston heads and i have had many emails and offers

Ok:

Alarm is now fitted to the k10. Keeps the chavs at bay!

My fox r2 alloys have now been bored out, took me a while but i got there, i ended up using a holsaw and a guide plate. Work great!!

Im going to have to get some 45profile tyres on them, they rub a bit! lol

Pics will be up tonight....

ok update time: pics will come later!

Alloys are on, 15" fox racing R2

Mirrors are now white

Booked in at a very good friend of mine for the MOT (pass emissions :p)

Tinting rear windows soon

Also i must say how much people like the car!

Last night a friend came back from buying his new car....vauxhall tigra 1.6 16V costing £1500!
and he wanted to do a straight swop with mine! haha Of course i turned him down!

Booked in at a very good friend of mine for the MOT (pass emissions :p)

couldnt give me his number could ya! lol

with the inlets and exhaust mani's opened up you should look at a lighter flywheel maybe or a ported head? there should still be more power to be had! was this a 4 speed or 5 originaly?

then would i be mistaken in saying that from standard the 5 speed head has 5bhp over the 4speed? i dont have my haynes at hand but i'm sure thats right. has better compression also.

it was a standard 1.0 4 speed pre-facelift,

Then speed put a facelift 1.0 5speed engine in...

Yes lightend fly sounds like the next thing after the cam n carb tune...

and lol daveeeee, bit far for you to drive! :p
