As we are arguing with insurance companies my wife decided she wants a Micra.
So instantly getting excited at 18:00 I looked all the normal places. Found a spares and repairs 1 mile from my house with mot till Feb. So looked at 19:30. She was a 1 litre 96 LX up for £325.

I looked at a very clean body with a recent service. She's done 113k but interestingly found .....wait for it.......

Electric windows
ABS
Rear discs.

I collect her tomorrow after agreeing £280

What do we think.......I'm well excited

Better pics I will upload but this is what I have currently ....

Her plans so far from what I can see are lowered, alloys, stickering, I'll probably whack the 1.3 cams in, Open the grill polish her up and see where to go from there.
Need some alloys from somewhere?

Might be selling my 13" sr/si alloys if you are interested?

I did ask the question of spares and repairs. He said the rear caliper seized on, he had a garage free it off so will need changing. However so far its working fine but I will check the caliper over later today. Also its missing 2 hub bolts. No other reasons.

Oh and thank you for the XXX lol

Adjusted the clutch slightly which is nice.
Checked the supposed offending caliper but its all free however the pads are shot so will change them later in the week. Got to repair a small hole in the sill.
Then was bored so spent 5 mins debadging the rear.

the rear caliper handbrake mech are prone to the lever shaft seals getting old/hard, drying out the grease and end up seized/sticking, so requires occasional servicing.

with the calipers out, grab the lever with pliers and swing it fully, you should see the piston nudge in/out. if the lever or piston gets stuck, either the lever or male threaded shaft mechanism or the female threaded spinning mount inside the piston has prob dried up n needs overhauling.

its not for the fail hearted or impatient and will be fiddly but do-able if careful. requires some special modified tools.

recently refreshed mine

also remember to wirebrush the brake pad sliding clips shiny clean then a very light smear of copper grease so the pads slide smoothly without sticking.

btw is that only 2 wheel studs I see?

It is just the 2. Like to live life on the edge Lol. Getting new ones next week. I tried this week but no one had any. Only gave him a proper drive today he was cool

I'll grab new pads next week and give the calipers an overhaul. Anyone any suggestions on what may be a nice colour to go with the car

Thats fantastic then really :) barely even counts as worthy for spares and repairs :p

Sorry force of habbit :( x

It did stay on luckily for the cars behind. Mind you thought it may need wheelie bars Lol.

Where is the central locking box located

Today I fitted new rear wheel studs, new rear pads, checked the handbrake on the rear calipers, new rear drop links and fitted my new alloys. (Thank you zazee for these).

Just a quick update. I've been using her for a few days straight but found she doesn't really get hot. No idea why but even after sitting in traffic the temp gauge only moves a little. Any ideas?
