are people giving up on the K10?

mabey im just being paranoid, but just lately it seems like some of the best k10's in the club are being sold up etc. are people loosing faith in the k10? I know its getting old now, but I think its simply a awesome lil car. guys please tell me Im wrong!? (not wanting to ruffle anyone's feathers if this is the case but I just want my faith in this car restored)

There are some really nice K10's out there, but yes it does come across that way that people are moving on, which is to be expected as people get older and cars start going wrong!

It's not just K10's though, i think there's generally a lot less modifiying going on out there, across all makes of cars. Car shows aren't as popular as they used to be and several events were cancelled this year

I've still only got 23K on my clock, so mine's got a lot more life in it!

Still need to do that damn under-sealing though...

naa i wont ever stop likin k10's im already planning on my next 2 projects, thats why i keep buying parts that i dont even need! i just like to be different from people in my area and as far as i know im the only person of my age with a k10 the way it is in my area soo im gonna keep it that way and it gives folk a laugh :D

Yeah I've given up on my K10, as soon as it fails an MOT I'm getting rid of it, it's starting to rust from under the paintwork for no reason, I've only kept it this long cos I don't like fuel injection systems

gah i've almost given up on my 10 copious amounts of times, mainly because i've spent 5 times its worth on it and i keep getting tempted by other cars. and the rust!!!!! but then i think about how fun they are to drive and how quirky and retro they are. cant see me keeping it for too long tho. need more grunt under the bonnet.

lost interest in k10's as soon as i got my almera to be honest!

then bought a few more GTi's

want to finally get the 2ltr as i want it and sitting nicely on the road, but then only drive that on occasions. just too old and fat for a k10

when realisation hit that if you actually spend the money wisely, you can drive alot better car the handles and drives alot better, no point spending money and wasting it on a 20 year old car

I absolutely love my k10, it's so much fun to drive. or at least it was till I broke my engine. The problem is that old cars cost a lot to keep going compared to newer ones, especially when you conider how much they're worth. That's why, for the time being, I've gone on to a diesel escort to ferry me and my stuff up and down the country. In a few years when I've got the money to waste I would love to go back and have a k10 to play with.

Love K10's but don't have the space or money to throw after another old car. Running an early 80's citroen is trouble enough. Got rid of the K10 because it wasn't fair putting the miles on it that I was doing.

Jumped into my Mrs old K11 (she gave it to her mum) earlier today and it was like stepping into a poorly designed deathtrap, the K10's weren't much better but at least I've got a fondness for them.

I don't know if I win the lottery I might get another as a toy but can't really justify it at the minute.

k10 owners come and go its always been like this in the many years ive been here, once i have my own house again ill be getting another k10 ill never give up. its just i dont have the space to keep one at the moment

I think you have to be a certain age as well, I remember K10's being common as muck and thinking, cor I want one of those. I remember when the K11 bubble came out thinking nah I prefer the boxy one. A whole chunk of people passing their tests now will have only been born in 1991! only a few years before the K10 was binned and only a year before the early K11's March's started to appear

I still miss mine - I've had four cars since, loved all of them, but I'd love to have saved G226 TVS from being seemingly scrapped. :(

I'll keep mine forever :).

Agreed!

When I finish modding mine and decide it is 'complete' I will garage it and start it up each weekend and rub it with a cloth...I will never get rid of it as such.

But once it is garaged I will work on something bigger...most likely a chaser...I will always go Japanese!!

i still got mine and i will never give it up at all it is a excellent car i have had it for 8 years now it is my project car and i love it 2 bits

Mines is pretty much dead but planning a come back next year, just need a nice solid shell and i have all the bits to build the one of the quickest in the club. All in good time.

Im pretty sure my old k10 is the one to beat...well MA12 n/a

If the webers were tuned it should have made 100bhp easily as it was 94.7 with crap running webers

Well I have the choice of bike carbs or SU sitting in my shed. Both just need setting up. Webers would be nice but not what I would be after.

Well every car reaches the end of its lifespan! I like my K10, but i'm going to upgrade, theres so many other cars out there to try!
As Bob Dylan said 'admit that the waters around you have grown, and accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone!' i think that applies to most aspects of life, you can't look back to much! :)

I'm thinking the same way at the moment....bloody Carburettors, bloody lazy companies to boot!
I asked Japarts if they would stock Carb parts "sorry, we can't help you at this time" They have numerous parts for the K10 which is a good thing but it ain't no bloomin good if the flamin' car wont go will it!!??

got a h reg 1.0 ,cambelt gone and done the engine, flew through the mot a couple of months ago, and the body is in a pretty good condition, new rad, now looking to find a home for it!

I'd just like everyone to know, I turned down a 1.3 Toyota Glanza V for my K10.

You may think I'm mad, but just you wait til I'm finished...

mine went a long time ago for another s**t tip :D

when it was at its best, great car for the little twisty country roads I live near.

Then it ended like this after I stripped most the parts I wanted to keep and it was going to the scrap yard (6 months test left on it!!)

It still annoys me when i read peoples' opinions on the Micras aoround the internet. All of it's based on assumptions, hardly any of these people have probably even driven one. I'm glad my parent's got me a Micra for my 17th and not a Sickycento, a Kack, or a Spaxo. I wouldn't have my gorgeous Cabriolet now if it wasn't for my first Micra, and then me finding this site!!

I have a K11, I also Had a K10, which I only sold because I borked both wrists in a motorbike spill and needed something with PAS - assuming I can ever find a nice clean K10 with PAS I will go the way of the K10 again as I dont like cars with ECUs.
Not that Im dissing the K11, its just not my bag.

It will be a sad day when I let go of my K10, but the front suspension's knocking, the gearbox has just about had it and there's an oil leak now. The front tyres are also bald plus the front brake shoes are worn out. The bodywork isn't too bad (hardly any rust) but there are a few minor scratches and dents. I have some spares for it and would sooner do it up and sell it than see it go to the scrappy :( if anyone is willing to take it on as a project I'll put it in the for sale section in a few months. It's the first car I've owned and I'm sort of attached to it ;) (I'd keep it if I had somewhere to work on it, unfortunately I have no garage or anywhere off-road I could store it) :(

The first car I remember my Dad ever owning was a white K10, I loved that car and still think of K10s very fondly, we've always been a Nissan family and from the Micra my Dad went on to own a Sunny and a Primera and now I own the Micra K11.
I don't see many K10s on the road lately but when one of my work mates turned up in one exactly the same as my dad's I nearly bought it from him. He got it stolen tho

still got my k10 micra, its my third and cant see myself selling it in the near future, gets a lot of looks from passers by (good ones :D)

I get a lot of oldish people talk to me saying 'oohh i have one of these (or a sunny), great little cars, you can weld the bonnet shut and never have a problem! which is quite true about all the ones ive had. :D

DONT GIVE UP ON THE K10!! JAPANEASE CARS RULE!! how many G reg french cars do you see on the road lol :D

A couple of months ago owning a K10 was a mare but just lately I seem to have found a second wind....I'm like a kid with an Airfix model... a mid life crisis maybe

To all those naysayers: :glare:........ :p

There's more 'boxy shaped' K10 than most people can imagine, if you start looking for them they start turning up in their droves..it's like a convention, mostly driven by old people but that's a good thing because they bought the K10 in their thousands and because of that they'll be a steady supply for some years to come :D

hurrah for the oldies (Y)

I was nearly in tears yesterday as I dropped my D reg Colette off at the scrapyard...

Put 40K on it in just under two years and it finally had too much wrong with it for me to put right (not enough spare time or cash).

Suspension, rear bearings, brakes, starting/idle problems, choke issues etc etc.
Plus a head gasket held together by K-seal.

To be honest, even with all that I just know it would've kept going but I'd feel bad selling it on to someone unsuspecting.

I've got a K reg Polo now, my first non-Micra ever. It's nice but it just doesnt have the same nippy feel, light steering, visibility and lovely saggy seats. And the brakes are terrible too.

I'll be back to K10s one day. Just waiting for the perfect one...
