59 bhp is more than enough

tonite ive managed to catch the last twenty minutes of a programme on the discovery channel. it entailed a group of chavs (yes burberry etc) on a fairly busy road racing up and down.

Now as if that wasnt bad enough there was someone who "organised" this who was a complete burk. He was talking about how he is "an upstanding citezen who doesnt drink or commit burglary" and "the only crime i commit is racing cars, it isnt hurting anyone" what your doing isnt racing mate, it is dangerous driving, no two ways about it.

if i was involved with this idiotic group of people id want to keep this guy away from the camera at all times because he came off as a complete n0b he practically condemned himself and anyone involved. if he thinks that what he is doing is safe or that it isnt going to hurt anybody he is going to have a big shock when someone dies. i would laugh but i know that this is the kid of people who not only puts our insurance up (when i was 17 i was quoted 5 grand for a smart car) but gives everyone with a modified car a label that they dont deserve.

this guy was talking about how they get big power cars. the fastest car i saw there was a suburu impretza sport wagon. the trouble with this kind of mentality is that people dont think about what happens when it all goes wrong. They think that theyre are different or special or rebelious becuase they like to floor theyre cars to within an inch of theyre life down a straight road.

i know this is a big cleche and i never used to agree with it until now but it is films like the fast and the furious (i admit i do like both films, even though they are totaly unrealistic but thats another rant probably coming soon) that gives them urge to go out and act like they can do this sort of thing, become a legend, get the girl etc and not manage to kill themselves or anyone else.

i like to drive and i like to drive fast. but as i always say that theyre is a time and place, usually on a 60mph backroad that you know very well. know you might be asking yourself what is the difference between this and what they do. well theyre isnt 50 people on the pavement watching (usually theyre isnt even a pavement) im not racing another car. i cant be pushed into someting due to peer pressure. im not promoting what i do at all and not glamourising it but due to circumstances and enviroment etc i feel that IM a lot safer doing this and becuase i make sure that no-one is around i dont put other people in danger.

I really dont think these kind of people think about what they do and how theyre actions affect others, if they did then they wouldnt do it.

oh and to top it all off they was doing racing outside a cemertary, ironic....maybe,and very disrespetfull.

(p.s. i really cant be bothered reading through this again so i apologise for the grammer and spelling mistakes now)

if you managed to get through this without falling asleep or going mental with boredom then thanks for letting me vent my anger at you all.

mike

i agree with everything you've just said. Theres a time and place for stupidity and public roads isnt the correct place at the end of the day.

If he calls him self an organiser why not book a strip/proving ground or sumit....if they can afford to run these high powered cars etc im sure they can get enough money between them to hire somewhere if there that serious on doing it.

i bet they'll only stop when one of the gets hurt badly or dies.

ps did it mention where abouts it was shot? just interested hoping there's gonna be a repeat on soon as well.

LOL it was southend!! S.E.C ...South East Cruises. i have been to thier races as well. Not to participate but to watch what they do. Max power was there a few times photoshooting the racing etc, they did a magazine spread off them etc few months back in 2005.

i dnt think speeding on roads is good at all. NO MATTER WHAT BACK ROAD YOU KNOW, you can clasify yourself as bad as them with that comment!

you had a 200bhp honda civic type r and you can honestly say you have never sped on a public road in you life? well thats your opinion and your entitled to it but in my opinion it is wrong. i never said it was good i was merely saying that the chances of me crashing and hurting me or someone else are high but no where near as bad as people like that. also its not just me i bet half of the people on here have there favourite setion of road they like to drive quickly on.

it would be good if legal races took place on a regular basis, i went to one last year just outside the town where i live entitled "race wars" by www.kroozmidz.com

was really good and all the local boy racers were there, was legal and i must have raced about twenty times on this disused airfield. really wish it was held more often.

shame that my engine was dead at the time otherwise i would have really kicked some ass!

would post a video but cant upload WMV files??? james will you change it so i can?

was really cool going to it as there were quite a range of cars there from novas, saxos to imprezas and a skyline, was three beaten up old maestro turbos which kroozmidz had which were beating some really fast cars!

well i can sorta see what they were talking about...the cemetry road although possibly the most ironic place to be racing next to...was a dead end , so theres no through traffic etc.

Not to say it wasnt a daft idea or less dangerous at least it wasnt along roads with other people driving up and down...as in the american shots, where the guy effectivly drove what would probably be classed as a drag car inc a burnout across serveral intersections at high speed during the day.

I myself preferred the drifting parts...which apart from the mountain section, was probably the safest way to be racing on normal streets...given the amount of space and how empty the surrounding area was.

Theres actually a new series of this starting next week i believe....so we'll have to see how far they take it this time.

to mr 59bhp.. first of all how fast can you go with 59bhp, even if you wanted to speed you probably coudnt. I have you know i have been driving 10 years with NO POINTS at all. Thats because i respect the speed limit and the laws of this country. When i wanted to race my type-r i would go to the monthly honda track event days and run what you brung events! Not on a quite road somewhere.

right leave the fighting there, the 59bhp not fast comment will insult a few micra owners as thats there standard bhp and the car is not that slow.

play nice people.

I got my car about 6 weeks ago, but over the last two or so I've realised that speeding is a bit daft, really. I used to put my foot down on quiet roads, but now the novelty has worn off, I'd rather take 5 minutes more and get there safely. I'm not like 'zomg 31mph, hang him'... but as they say, it's inappropriate speed that kills.
It mightn't be as bad as drink-driving, but y'know, it does cause plenty of accidents too. For example, a moron I was at school with went speeding at 60 down a 30 tight road near me, ended up hitting another car through a wall and putting two people in hospital. That's inappropriate speed at its worst.

it is a bit silly slagging off micras on a micra forum imo. I'm pretty sure a 1.0l micra could speed if the driver wanted too.

nah its my screen name on all the forums i go on so ill get confused. thanks for the offer anyways. if you read my post i never actually mentioned anything me speeding. all i said was i drive fast on a national speed limit backroad. i never said anything about going over 60.

i know what it is like. one of my freinds had an escort si mk4 for his first car and crashed with me my bro and one of my best mates in doing 90 in a thirty. we kept telling him to calm down but it was to late.he spun out and hit a metal gate, a concrete bollard, a lampost (that toppled onto the car) andput a hole in someones house. i had to get out the car and look at this guy who was still sitting n his sofa through what used to be his front wall. then look at my brother and two close freinds un concious and possibly dead in the crumpled metal tha used to be a car. he was in hosptial for about 3 weeks and almost died. he almost killed my brother and one of my closest freinds. i know what happens when it all goes titsup and so i keep to my limits. anyone who has been in a serious crash before will tell you, you never drive the same again. i never do anything like that EVER and never will.

why are you all huffing and puffing about speding/driving stupidly could kill people,,when you can legally buy tobacco over the counter at any shop in the uk,and its the biggest killer!!why cant police arrest smokers?

yeah i agree its stupid people are accting like this on public roads...police have the power to educate people and to stop it hapenin but they arent,,your not telling me thers full on race wars on public roads and nobody reported it? and the police didnt know...c'mon

smoking has killed 6.3 million people in the uk in the last 50 years! and its still legal,,
