service light on,doesnt go off when i try to start the car, car refuses to start, checked plugs (good spark).I can smell fuel, so no problem with that. any advice would be great

and its a v reg 1.0 lorraine ? maybe flooding ? you could try it with the fuelpump fuse removed

Spoke to the person who owned the car before me, spark plugs are between 5 and 6 years old, so treated micra to a new set. Removed old ones, set gap on plugs, checked spark and installed them. Starts first time now, thanks for your advice.
