mysterious find in emmisions hose

hi lads,
took off the emmisions hose which goes from rocker head cover to intake manifold, at the last bend before the intake manifold , i found what looks to me to be a valve or something
please somebody tell me that this did not come from my engine and that it somehow myseriously made its way into the hose (previous owner had carried out a lot of work) as i hope my engine is still good. any help would be much appriciated

ohhh, hmm would that ventalator be vital? I'm probably going to have to reconstruct that wherever it is on top of the head, this probably could solve the idiling issue i had if this bad-boy was stuck in the pipe couldn't it?

ahh, reading up on them they do seem pretty important, at least there in the rocker cover, appearently its spring loaded, so i may go buy a new one if the spring isnt in there

thanks for the starter just got it fixed, found the PCV valve on the intake manifold, it seems there was so much blow-by it blew the back out of the valve, but extremly simple to fix, running much better now, it actually idles lol
