Guessing you've finished the manifold (technical ehh) then?
I have now yea :) sorted the gubbins out and plated the bottom

So I think I'll share my very current and expensive project
I have unfortunately lost my beloved Gp.N Evo7..
Why?
I was in the market for an Impreza or a newer Evo 9
And I did a good deal and ended up deciding to go with one of these

I now have (when restrictors removed) at a guess a 550/600hp YB powered Escort Cosworth... not a bad investment I thought ;)
Now to convert it to Gp.N from Gp.A and rock the show

One passenger ride already booked.. @McMicra
Ill have a pass ride :)

Good old H701 and good on that engine.... had a little play for a change... embarassed a few locals as usual :D
One poor chap slid off the road... so I pulled him back on. No harm done to person nor car :)

But it revealed a weakness in my car... my radiator cap is on its way out :p
So it steamed its nuts off... left it for 5mins. Restarted and the temperature gauge had only gone up to half way (normally sits 3rd of the way up) so I decided to call it a night. Got a tenner from the bloke I pulled from the field. He was expecting to be left. Made friends yo

All in all an event hour or two
H701 is home safe and sound with a new high pressure rad cap taped to the steering wheel as a reminder ;)

Oh and I now finally have a clio

All up and running smoothly then? Will have to go play at a sprint ;)

What car slid of the road?

Yea it wasn't phased :)
Aye we'll see what the crack is at some point

Was a purple saxo vts... funnily enough. Car was pathetic tbh. He admitted it was crap but he said it was a car he didn't care for :)

Half made it a home-made flow bench today.
I'm not paying someone to fix the proper one so I'll sell it

Anyway... I haven't got pictures but I'll get some once its finished :)

Its 2 Maf's hooked up to a volt meter each.. one before the inlet port and one just after exhaust port
Blow air with compressor at various distances... take reading from maf 1... all valves open as much as cams allows... take measurement at maf 2.
Work out difference between the two as a percentage

Really simple really :)
Will post some results and pictures etc if all pans out well :)

I've heard a lot of twoddle recently about the GA16 and its laughable

Having spent the afternoon with a few 240z owners the general consensus ending up being that if there were a GA20 that would be their go to engine. Its strong, torquey and uber reliable

The only reason they choose the SR/CA is the classic phrase "there's no replacement for displacement" and the availability of tuning parts

The most powerful short wheelbase fwd car I've actually experienced and seen handle properly had 320hp of which the GA is more than capable. You could probably run up to 400 as a max any more and you'll visit a wall its a guarantee in my experience and opinion

So that's me fairly happy I chose the right engine :)

Getting a bit over-defensive there fella, you trying to convince other people or yourself? :p

Does it really sound that way ? :/

I spent a good couple of hours talking engines and it enlightened me to alot of things and just thought I'd post it up

There's misconceptions of the GA out there I didn't realise

Also found out a fully kitted GA is only 8kilos heavier than a fully kitted SR and the CA was slightly heavier

Not only that but now I really want a 240z... they're so much fun

Just teasing, and anyway it's Nissan's job to defend the GA honour, the less people know the more cheap engines and spares there are. Plus can you imagibe if there were GA fanboys like vtec fanboy? I'd have to sell mine on! lol

When you put it like that... I'll keep the GA secrets to myself :p

I actually emailed Nissan the other day because I'm so convinced that the CG is a newer version of the GA that I had to ask if it was a basis for design... I eagerly await the reply

Is that the GA engine + box = SR engine + box + 8kg?

How much heavier does it make the GA than an MA or CG like that then? (for the purposes of calculating P/W)

Not sure on the weight of a CG with box
CG engine alone was estimated at 60kg I'd say fully kitted it'd be 120kg?
GA being 213kg
And the SR being 204kg
Approx 70% weight increase?

So works out at a measly 25kg or so heavier (assuming SR+box is 139kg)
Say a 800kg K11:

Cg=75/0.8= 94bhp/tonne
GA=100/0.825=121bhp/tonne

Seeing as without cams etc a CG runs out at about 94bhp, GA makes a lot of sense, especially if you can fit it with about 5 mins worth of welding :)
Edit:
Cg+ intake and 4branch =94/0.8=118bhp/tonne (and WAY less torque). Bought a whole almera for not much more than a K11 4 branch...
