K10 Tuner
been having a little tinkering time with the weather being horrible tonight, comments please, mark im counting on you

sorry for crappy dark pics, it was going dark afterall.

just an idea ive been tossing around for a while, the wheel below is actually the 7inch one in my earlier thread, but ive adjusted the offset so resemble a 8 inch wheel with an et0 (zero offset)

realising this was a bit more poke than i was after, back in the press, re-adjusted to give et20

i think thats a bit more like it, when my 75mm metal comes ill actually band a wheel to 8 inch and blow a tyre on an re-evaluate then,

not too sure which tyre to go for yet, im having 7 inch on the front with 165/55/13 tyres, but dont know which tyre for the 8 inch, possibly 175/60/13. not sure yet.

wicked i love banded wheels and seriously want a set now Can anybody make me a set?. 8 inches look sweet as! Just picturing a set with jap style retro bolt on arches (Y)

its fairly easy if you know what your doing and have descent equipment, and a way of parting the wheels off square.

and you really need a hydraulic press to push the centre in and out of the wheels

They look good scott! My only query would be are these rendered illegal? This is the problem i have with the 'revolites' I bought a week or two back. After a bit of searching on the web (and being directed through RR to a police forum) it seems that the max a wheel can stick out of the arch is 30mm (although theres no actual law just a guideline which the police use). They class it as dangerous driving, given that you might injure pedestrians with the wheel sticking out that much. Dont quote me on this as its only what Ive read. The 'thread' I read was on stretched tyres but it had a lot of comments about the rim in general. Personally Im not sure wether to even risk it as I only need to be penaltied once more in the next 6months to have my license stripped.

I think it might be good to have this discussion on the forum too :D

the law differs in many ways, i know from experience with dubs that the cops can be pretty strict when it comes to wheels sticking out or arches. My arguement is how do we get done for it and hot rods get away with it! i think id still be tempted to get some jap style bolt on arches to compensate for 8 inch wide steelies(Y)

those tyres and et20 sound perfect imo scott (Y)

THE 175/60/13 tyres frank? ive done a quick sim on that 'will they fit' thing and look ok, but ill wait till i get my 75mm metal next week (fingers crossed) and mock one up properly then.

if 30mm is the max then these dont stick out that far right at the top of the arch, but that depends where they measure from i guess, maybe some neg camber would be the solution?

The 175/60s you want for the rear are quite a bit taller than the 165/55s - 30mm, 175/50s are smaller than the 165/55s

A better match would be 165/65 on the front and 175/60 on the back. they are under 10mm different. but you would be well and truly in old school tall tyre land

Tyre Size - overall diameter

175/50 13 - 50.52
175/60 13 - 54.02

165/65 13 - 54.47
165/55 13 - 51.17

Of course if you want 165/55s on the front you could maybe get them on the 8"s destined for the back as well  and they will deffo go on the 7"s.

Thats 165/55 on a 6" at the front and 165/55 on an 8" at the rear.

some good input there mark (as i expected) the reasons for my tyre choices are, i have 5 almost new 165/55/13 tyres sat here in dry storage and also i have a almost brand new 175/60/13 here to, meaning id only need to buy 1 tyre, lol

i know the 165/55/13 will fit nicely on a 7 inch rim, remember my other banding thread a few months back? on the stretch tyre website with all the pics on, it shows a 165/55/13 tyre on an 8 inch but it looks too stretched for me, but ill see when i have an 8 inch rim to try it on.

im running 175/60 on 13 x 7 offset 6, fronts out quite a bit so will need camber but rear with the stretch is perfect

my only worry is grip, 165 is skinny, grip would be pants right? i mean mine are pretty pants(before they were stretched on the 13x5)

i was going to go with the 13 x8 weller et-10 but was advised not to purely as it IS to much of a negative offset for the arches

if your going low with bolt on arches you will more than likely need to tub the arches first and cut off the existing arch to give you the clearance when you go low

just my 2 cents

thick question but ive noticed tha welllers only come in et10 and et58, i dont mind them sticking out the arches but whats the difference between them both? im seriously pondering jdm/jun style arches:grinning:
