Changed my engine oil today

The old stuff looked like black/brown treacle, don't think it's been done for quite some time!

They get a bit rusty here and there these Micras

If you dont drive the car very often condensation builds up in the crankcase then mixes with the oil.
On my own 'fleet' I always run an engine flush thru it first as that seems to keep the timing chain tensioners happy. Only costs a few pounds.

I've heard conflicting stories regarding flushing oil, some say it isn't goog for your engine, judging by the colour in the cam cover mine looks like it would benefit from a clean however,

I thought it was from contamination from the combustion of the fuel? and regular oil changes prevent those contaminates from being deposited onto the surfaces inside the engine.

Hmm, he is. I ready somewhere that oil changes colour because of the heat, which slowly breaks down the oil making it become less thick. Guess I was wrong? Thanks anyways.
