any diffrence between a NATS ecu and non NATS?

whilst stripping my 99 micra for its engine to put in a mates micra i noticed mine has nats and his doesn't. which got me thinking is there any differences in the ecu's?

ive read before about there being a little black nats box behind the dash however mine only seems to have the ring around the ignition barrel ?

some of the pinouts are different eh, and baguete said the later type nats has more wires to the receiver (7 instead of 4 ?) and has no separate box iirc

ah ok. thanks it was mainly the little black box thing (or lack of) that confused me
