Finally home after our Rally Barbados adventures.

Came home to find the Grande Punto alternator has seized with all the rain you guys have had, poor rain drainage design by Fiat runs the water into the engine bay.....

Had to sort out a local garage to sort it out, as it is hidden in a very award place to access, plus no time to do it either. Got a lambda sensor, plugs leads and coolant gasket to change on the MGZR!

So with Suze with no road car for tomorrow, i had to dig out the rally car. Spent an hour putting the airbox back together, after washing out a lot of crud in the airfilter from the last few events. Did this and then went for a 'test' drive, and remembered what a fun and powerful car to drive she is, grins all round :)

gonna attempt to bash the dents out and put a spare light in at the weekend so i can at least drive it,

Haven't done anything else to the micra besides the back box but do have a question, would lowering springs off a mk2 golf fit a micra?

Okay, this is going to sound very vague but I found a picture of one of these wings a few weeks ago. I think it was possibly white or silver but I can't find the picture anywhere now.

Basically, the owner had adjusted it so that it had more of an angle. It looked pretty cool and I want to do it myself. If anyone knows where the picture of it is, or if they have done it already can you please let me know.

Thanks

Quick service for Melody the Micra! New oil, oil filter, fuel filter and spark plugs :) The fuel filter was disgusting, flushed some water through it and it was black!
Also washed, polished and waxed! Shinyyyyy!

That under floor damage is nothing, you should have seen our Micra after Wales Rally GB, OMG the damage!

Anyway is the girl you let drive the car 'worth it' ? ;)

Got a question.
Cleaned up tge bottem end of the piston earlier and discovere they were number 1-4 on the cap and the rod on the edge next to each other. But I took them all out one at a time and bagged them seperatly and wrote on where they came from.

The problem is they dont match up so either, that number dosnt relate to which cylinder, or ive somehow bagged them up wrong or whover last rebuild it put them in wrong order.

Are the markings in the photo from factory or will the garage that rebuilt them have done that?

Not sure wether to trust myself or the stamps :( didnt notice them when I first stripped it as I put them straight into the bags and have only worked on kne piston at a time leaving the other 3 bagged .

You mean 'did she put out?'

the stamped number means which cylinder number it was for. the number usually faces the back (inlet) side of the engine.

Cheers for that, ill assemble from that then and just for my sake im gonna assume I bagged em right and they were in wrong, there were groves at the top of the bore, took quite a bit to hone it out still there a bit but a lot better. :p

aye numbers at the back and piston arrows pointing at the chain eh paul, because the pistons are offset for quietness :)

You are aware that you can't legally teach anyone to drive are you Chris?
Serves you right tbh, letting a Doris loose in your car in the hope of playing stink finger

You can't say owt Max, you seem to have lost all interest in cars/driving since you got a gf ;)

VERY fair point
Cheaper to take the train to hers than pay fuel.. So yeah.
Some things are more important than cars :)
