why?

why do some people stick their induction k&n on top of the throttle body and others fit their k&n filter on to a induction pipe (can be made from gutter pipe also) that connects at one end to the throttle body and the end to the filter?

is there an explanation, which way is better and will give more gains????

The people who use ally pipe or drain pipe are trying to get the filter to the front of the engine bay away from the heat of the engine. Behind the headlights but not behind the radiator is a good spot :). Obviously, the cooler the air going into the engine, the denser it is. The MAF detects this and injects abit more fuel. More fuel + more air = more power.

nicely replied, at the moment mine sits on the throttle body, i will go to the diy shop to get some guttering pipe, hopefully should see gains. which headlight should it sit behind on a k11 micra or where abouts would be best to locate the k&n? Pics any one?
