too much oil

hello,i've heard that putting too much oil in a car;is as bad as not having enough.can anyone advise please? regards

Yep, too much oil increases oil pressure, putting a strain on some of the engine internals. It's definately not recommended! If it's overfilled, drain the oil and refill to the correct level.

As pete said, not good at all, extra oil puts extra strain on the crank and increase oil pressure.

can also inrease pressure in the engine blowing out oil seals on some cars! especially crank seals, plus it can blow out of the breathers, as said drain some out and refil to the correct amount
if its slightly over full a mm or to on the dipstick you will be oc but much more than that you will want to sort it!

also more likely to get oil passed the piston rings into the combustion chamber which aint good either.

It's also more likely to cost more than filling it to the correct level.
