MOT is booked in for friday!

Booked it in before the actual MOT expiry date so I can still drive it round if it fails.

As it being 16 years old It had around £400 spent on last years MOT (mostly rust being welded, it was like swiss cheese!)

So hopefully it should fly through. I noticed today my number plate light wasnt working:doh: So I ordered a new one and hopefully get that replaced before Friday. Been checking all the obvious stuff aswell, it looks all good (Y)

Yeah,

MOT is the natural enemy of the K11 grr

Eliot, if the car is jacked up at MOT pls. take a look at your coils. from my point of view your drop is definitly more than 35MM (i think 55-60MM). Coils hang loose or are they tight ?? I am curious about it.

Number plate bulb arrived today, quickly changed it, but now its alot brighter than the other one:doh: ah well they are both lit so its not gonna fail on that, I will replace the other one after the MOT.

I fixed my backbox not long ago cause it was blowing, found today it broken thorugh in the dame place again but the hole was twice as big. So popped down the local halfords:glare: and bought the holts wrap around thingy magig, and it works great now.

He says the orange paint form the bulp has come of, but when they flash they look orange to me!

The welding will be about £60 I think.

Its just the unbalanced brakes 48% That will cost alot, they want to replace the whole disc pads etc. but I cant notice it when im driving! What are the causes of unbalanced brakes?

it can be a sticking caliper (unlikely imo) and is usually scale buildup on the discs

dunno eliot, thats a new one on me (the tester should have an idea on the cause because he will have tested the left one to full pressure, then the right one, then both together)

the bulbs are painted and the paint melts with the time.

...when i look at my front indicators i find the same problem, the paint is off and only with lots of phantasy the colour is amber/orange.

@eliot MOT did say nothing about your springs? (...maybe cause they found enough other things fwn )))

I wish you could solve the probs for small money and pass the MOT next time. :upside:

I went away for the MOT and came back to pick it up. So I couldnt see what the springs were like. All my brether did was replace the existing ones with the ones I have on now. He didnt do anything to the shock absorbers.

I can sill drive my car the official date for the MOT is the 18th of November. So I will hopefully have it fixed by then.

today my car is at the coil specialist for pressing the lowering springs. I showed him yr. picture and he told me that it was not possible to drop the car at the tail like yours without modifying piston rod of the shock absorbers. the springs then will definitly hang loose

i think you will find they are proper lowering springs with progressive rate coils, the softer closely wound coils on the ends take up the slack when the car is jacked up

Update: Its a PASS

Took it round to Franks some tinkering later the car was ready for another MOT. Frank kindly booked it up at his recommended garge for me at 3:30. Made mt way down there and they all turned out to be a geat bunch of blokes. 45mins later the car had passed its MOT.

Failed and MOT and passed it in the same day!

Thank you so much for the time and effort you put in for me Frank. You saved me so much money and grief. I owe you big time. :grinning:

Im gonna get some new pads and disc for the front.(cause original are crap) I will bring the ones back you let me borrow when I come for the manifold mate.

you never said that MOT garage were micra nuts aswell! I drove into the garage with mine they were all like 'Woah a super S', and they loved my squeaky clean engine bay :blush:

One bloke was doing some work on his in the courner!

Also the new brakes saved me big time on the motorway, some foreigner drove straight into my lane without indicating (he was about half a metre in front of me in the lane next to me when he cut in) and I had to slam my brakes on! If I had my old ones I would of hit him!
