Stuck sunroof.......

Hiya. My mate has just phoned me about the sunroof on my Mum's old Micra, that he is now using. He said that the sunroof will go up, but not slide forward (If you know what I mean?) Is there a way of easing the sunroof back into position? (It could just be that it's stuck, as Mum never really used it)

Cheers people : )

you mean it can tilt up & down easily (not much resistance since its just moving pivots)
but when he tries to turn the handle the other way to tuck & slide the glass backwards there's alot of friction?

if its never used, grease in the cable operated sliding mechanism could harden up n restrict movement which could potentially break the handle bit.
to fix you'll need to remove the roof liner, sunroof glass then remove the sunroof assembly out to overhaul the mechanism

Yeah, that's correct, pollyp. The sunroof tilts, but doesn't retract. Cheers for the help : )

EDIT: Would rocking the sunroof back and forth using the handle free it from the rust (Just gently......)

Sorry to double post, but just to let everyone know, the sunroof is now working! It turns out, that one side of the sunroof, wasn't "engaging" the runner, so after pushing down on the sunroof, it popped back into place. Job done! Cheers people : )
