strange clutch have no idea what it is

basically i was fiddleing about with something in under the bonnet so i decided to disconnect the clutch cable i then started it up went to go for a drive and forgot to connect it back up so i put it back on how it was and now the clutch doesnt work, typical, i cant understand what it could be. the only thing i could think of is when i was putting a new clutch in it (its got an almera clutch) i cant remember if it had the retaining clips on the thrust bearing or not so i think that when i disconnected the clutch the two knobs on the bearing that hit the forks might have spun around
any ideas cause its a ****ing mission to take the engine out in my car some fool told me to put a nissan engine in a mini duh what a stupid idea

Drill an inspection hole in the bellhousing maybe ? (there should be some pics of mine around)
