Sticking throttle?

Drove my Micra yesterday and found it hanging onto the revs while changing gear, then noticed it starting to drive away when I lifted off the throttle pedal. One time it did it long enough for me to get my foot under the accelerator pedal and try to lift it, it wasn't the pedal sticking down.

Is this common? Which part is likely to need attention?

Maybe the idle control valve?

Had that problem in my Fiesta, when dipping the clutch the revs would either stick for a while or rev up to like 3000rpm for a few seconds then drop.

I'm sure if you search the forum you'll find how to clean the ICV ;)

is the throttle cable slightly slack? if not, it'll be pulling the throttle open slightly.

when it's idling fast after touching the throttle, reach behind the airbox and try see if the throttle cam, that the cable pulls on, can be moved closed even more. if the throttle cam isn't springing back fully either the cable is worn/sticky or the throttle mechanism is seizing.

another more common problem is a seized waxstat fast idle cam mechanism which usually causes the throttle plate to never shut properly, its constantly in fast idle.

another issue is the Idle control valve in front of the TB thats sticking open

there's a guide on my blog page 19 post 908
