SR20VE K11

well it looks like ive been f***** over with these VE engines.
im now on the hunt for a pulsar gtir to make mine 4wd whole hog then do a ve head conversion once i get my hands on one.

It'll be good to see how a simpler traditional engine mounting and transfer box stacks up engineering wise against a boxer engine and its huge gearbox :)

Give me a shout if you need any R' advice.. Not wanting to blow my own trumpet, but there isn't much I don't know about anything to do with them...

Gtir is in the same state as my old p10 primera. To save it would need a reshell. Everything from the pulsar is goin into the micra so it will be wide tracked and suspension mounts welded in too. The whole car will be stitch welded and rollcaged. So i dont see why it wont handle well to be honest.

The r has a bad misfire like its flooding bad. But i havent had a look into it yet il check it over for the usual stuff soon as i get the time. Want it running like it should before i fit into micra .

My old setup is now for sale 1200 ono for everything you need that bolts on. You just need to weld mounts and away you go . Engine gearbox custom shafts not cut and welded. Custom wiring full exhaust etc

Go for it, nikoli (sp) was doing this but hasn't updated in a while

As for the handling, what does it matter if your doing the speed limit ;)

Hello... boxer engine will be much more difficult to get to handle... I'd say this pulsar conversion should be relatively simple to setup the chassis :)

I only said about handling because I would doubt my own ability to align all the mounts etc, but then realised that suspension is adjustable for toe/camber etc *doh!*
Good luck :)

I would only keep the R if it was worth it, sounds like you have a fantastic project on your hands.
You sure the misfire isnt serious right? would be a shame to get it all in place to find the engine is pooped... I guess a new sr20de is cheap, is there any difference between the sr20det and the sr20de engine wise?
Looking forward to more!

fairplay... first a p10 that used to be one of NPOC's greatest and now a GTI-R. You have a thing for killing far better cars :) but good luck non-the-less.

Sadly yes. Bits from the GTI-R engine can be fitted to the SR20 but not the other way around.

only if the cars are worth restoring though eh :) I dont think he is 'killing' it... just giving it a different kind of life.
If you want to talk about killing good cars then i would direct your attention to things like the scrapage scheme (pet hate of mine).

I didn't say it in a bad way, but I am a huge, huge primera fanatic that is all. and that P10 was a rare example and now there's one less. but they are bad for rot so i suppose in a sense it was the best way to go. Scrappage scheme was ****. got rid of all the possible 400 quid bargains on ebay!!!!! Also they haven't got around to scrapping every car yet!!!!

Stay tuned next when i take apart my sr20det 180sx to make a rwd micra .... lol (joke)

i actually miss my old primera but sadly people dont look after their cars chassis wise otherwise these would still be alive. With every car ive owned that has had a good clean chassis i strip and protect them straight away to keep them going for years to come :)

1st plan of action is to get gtir running sweet. If the rings are gone etc thats fine as i want to forge it so that once its in i dont have to take it out for a while.

All you need to do to the RNN14 engine is fit pistons, Rod bolts and metal head gasket... The engine will then be capable of around 4-450bhp. You will need RNN14 ACL specific (or Nissan) bearing set. NOT other SR20 bearings as they will be the wrong size, and have the wrong oil holes.
Forged Pistons for Mahle are £500
Rod bolts around £90
Cosworth Metal headgasket £150 - reason that is more than RRP is I have tooling made that makes them a direct fit for the gtir with NO messing about needed- No one else does this.
Bearing set is around £200
New oil pump is around £180ish
Full gasket gasket set (has to be GTIR again) is about £150

Anything else let me know.... I know the engines and all the systems on them in and out & back to front ;)

Well didnt take long to find out the problem with the gtir.
Atleast its an easy fix.

:)

Just need to start ripping it apart now once current setup has sold and go e :)

well thats the current sr20 setup now sold.
so over the next few days its getting stripped and so is the gtir so i can start.

1st step gonna fit engine and gearbox into place weld in mounts etc.
2nd step line up the rear subframe for fitting and welding

once thats all perfect remove all and start seam welding the chassis and fitting a rollcage

:)

Will do it!! Always wanted to, got a mate at work whos restoring a mrk1 escort, twin 48 carbs, fully seam welded etc if I get stuck lol
