rev counter help!

I just bought an auto gauge rev counter in halfords and it says its universal on the box but im completely clueless on how to fit it and the wiring diagrams in the haynes manuals make no sense to me could anyone give me advice or instructions?please

How many wires are coming out of it ?

If it's 3 wires....

A. 1 Wire to minus on Coil
B. 1 wire to Ground
C. 1 wire spliced into the Headlight positive wire

Someone please back me up here as I'm not completely 100% on this so would like to make sure

Red wire to ignition live (find this behind your stereo)
Black wire to ground (find this as a bolt on the steering column)
Green wire to negative on the coil
Orange wire to illumination (either into the sidelight circuit or just to ignition live to make things easier

ok thanks for the advice and one more thing wheres the negative coil?

Follow the spark plug wires to the distributor, then follow the 5th (central wire) to the coil, there will be 2 other wires connected to the coil, one is positive, the other is negative.

it,s the low tension wire on the the coil that goes to the dizzy
