Nissan Micra K11 fuel pump change.

Can anyone help?
Received a new in-tank fuel pump, and it seems to be the right replacement.
My problem is, I can't get the old fuel strainer/filter off the old pump.
Seems to be held by metal rings- one on the suction port of the pump, and one in the centre of the pump.
Don't want to use too much force, for fear of damaging the filter. They seem impossible to find anywhere on the web.

Any advice would be most welcome- either how to remove the old filter without damage, or how to get a new filter/strainer
to fit to the new pump.

Thanks.

its only a crude sock really bob, the important filter is inline
paul (pollyp) changed his pump and can probably help you
