More suspension questions

I've been trying to get my new springs on this morning again, but can't undo one of the knuts on top of the front strut. Its one of the center ones that you can see from the engine bay. (very technical explanation there!)

Whenever you turn the knut, everything moves with it and I haven't been able to hold the center part in place.

Got any ideas?

i usually clamp the shaft with molegrips, but you need to get as high as you can, and protect the chrome with emery paper (backwards on)

Cheers Frank. Got the front left switched over now. 1 down, 3 to go. Having trouble unbolting the rear panhard rod through. Shouldn't be too bad once thats off.

Anyone know which way up the rear springs fit? I'm assuming that they go the same way up as the writing on them?
