micra brakes

i have posted this just to try and get a little information on why my car seems to want to kill me lol. i'm not someone who doodles around everywhere doin 30 but just latly when i brake quite heavily for corners and start to turn i find the rear wheels locking up and sending me sideways or spinning me a complete 180, whilst this is going on i do get the warning light for the brakes come on the dash so i know theres a problem i just cant find what it is, so as you can imagine i'm not exactly keen on driving it anymore. the car is a 1994 micra 1liter LX 5 door no ABS or anything. please help has anyone got any ideas on what my problem might be?

i would say, either your load apportioning valve (on the back axle) is stuck on fully laden, or the shoes are grabbing (need shampfering) :)
