knocking steering rack

steering rack started knocking and squeking today quite comon apparently in k10's what is actualy causing it is it loose or somthing? and what is it that has caused it to happen? its literaly started doing it today.

Check the Brackets that holds the Steering Rack to the bottom of the Bulkhead, the rubber may have perished so resulting in sideways movement.
Also check everything that is connected to the Steering to ascertain whether anything else is loose.

yep will do, have not had chance to check it all over yet, its the way that its just happend suddenly, one min it was normal and the next its knocking and squeking.

mine did this and it was caused by what micra110 said, couldnt source new rubbers so did what my mot guy said and wrapped electrical insulation tape around the rubber then fit the brackets back on, never been a seconds trouble since and i did that about feb last year.

Well a garage told me that mine was becuase i had lowered it

mine did it before it was loweres but i gaurentee you insulation tape sorted mine out.
