Another epic day at Norfolk Arena! Was definately alot better this time round! Weather held out till lunch time then the heavens opened up,which certainly made things interesting!

The day was going very well untill some dickhead in a Yellow E36 decided to drive into me. I was taking a line on the outside of the track and he was in the inside,i went into the kidney corner and spun, and he hit me straight on. I'm fine, walked away with no injuries, but the car needs work as you can see...

I've already sourced a new door locally which i should be picking up next week

Yowza, although I suppose with drift cars there's only so long until it gets the odd war wound, wether it's your doing or not. Luckily a door and a wing aren't too hard to replace, could have been worse!

Video from Saturday's Drift Practice,i make an appearance at 1:07 :)

Its shamefull to admit this, but i bought some Lexus Lights :( Won them at a bargain price on Ebay due to one being damaged.
Heres a photo of the damaged one (you can see the damage on the left edge)

Not bad for a grand total of £21.00 :)

Small update!
Rear lights fitted before and after
IMG_0002.jpg

Both fitted
IMG_0008.jpg

Started work on the wing removal. Managed to get majority of the wing free except 1x 10mm nut by the door hinge and 3x 10mm nuts inside the wing (nearest the headlight). After using ratchet extensions, heat gun, loooads of WD40 the damn things wouldnt budge.
The wing was no good anyway,so out came the tin snips and i cut the damn thing off! With aid of some mole grips to stop the spinning bolt head, the wing was off!
IMG_0031.jpg

Then had the same isses on the other side. Apprently the bumper needs to come off to remove the wing, but without removing 2 outta 3 of the 10mm nuts, the bumper wasnt coming off!
Alot of swearing later, the bumper was finally off! Who ever designed the MX5 needs to be shot! If i ever have to do this job again,i'm scrapping the car! What a complete nightmare!

IMG_0028.jpg

It was then time to remove the window motor, regulator, door handle & lock and glass over to the other door. Half way through i forgot how the door mech went but got there in the end :)
Got the door fitted but it catches, will have look another day :)

Rear lights look awesome Chris! Dunno why really but seeing non-Jap cars drifting just looks kinda wrong to me..?

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday 11th March) i drove down to Lakeside to meet up with my mate Aaron. From there we embarked on a road trip to central London to visit the Banksy Graffiti Tunnel aswell as some other sites.

Banksy got permission to get the Tunnel closed off to do his work. He then opened it to certainly people as his exhibition,it then got opened to the public and graffiti artists were then free to display their own work over the years.

I couldnt see any of his own work, but thats why its called the Banksy Tunney :)

Hard Top will be sprayed the same time as the Superlites ;)

Today me and a friend started to fit my new TR LANE Roll Cage that arrived a week or so ago.

Cool pics from the Tunney, reminds me of the London days ;)

I'm amazed that TR cages are advertised as bolt-in with no welding needed. Never fitted a bolt-in cage without adequate reinforcement plates of >3mm welded in.

Update!
Next on the list was to sort out the interior. At previous drift days i noticed i get slung about the car alot,so it was time to get a bucket seat and harness.
Looking about and was weighing up pair of cheaper seats against a single decent seat. As it'll be mainly me in the car while drifting i opted for a single seat,a Sparco Sprint V from JJC Race & Rally (extremely fast delivery and very good prices, highly recommend!)
292641_10151404727335311_791575310_23178889_1393945644_n.jpg

I also bought a Sparco 4 Point Harness

Today i planned on fitting the seat, some time later and its in!

In between fitting the seat i painted the Hard Top aswell. A friend of mine had some Black Military paint which he kindly gave me:

Me and my mate have took measurements for the harness bar and that'll be welded onto the Cage next week and the harness should be fitted aswell, photos to follow :)

Update!
Superlites got masked up and scotched ready for paint,i quite like the matte blue!
IMG_0417.jpg

Then Paint! (funnily enough i used Black Stone Chip)
IMG_0428.jpg

IMG_0427.jpg

Although they're dry, gonna let them 'bake'. These wont be going on till Sunday
Next up was to cover and strip the car ready for the harness bar
IMG_0421.jpg

Harness Bar cut and lined up ready for welding
IMG_0426.jpg

Side brackets welded in place
IMG_0429.jpg

Metal tab welded ready for the harness
IMG_0433.jpg

PAINT! Originally i started to brush it on,but found it ALOT easier with a spray gun
IMG_0441.jpg

Seat back in and Harness fitted

IMG_0445.jpg

IMG_0447.jpg

IMG_0448.jpg

Fire Extinguisher fitted

While the paint was in the gun we gave the Hard Top a coat to get rid of those roller marks

This is totally the opposite direction i originally wanted to go with the car! I promised myself it wouldnt turn into the Micra (i.e have LOOOOOADS of money spent on it). The purpose was to drift it...but the inner show queen inside just couldnt resist!

Plus, the carbon boot lid was offered at an EXTREMELY good price,y'know...the kind of price you just cant refuse!
