At least they look awesome :D

Me and a mate started to put things back together today. Got the downpipe heat wrapped and bolted to the turbo. We then dropped the decat and welded a sleeve on,then fitting it back to the downpipe/rest of the system. Once that was sorted we calibrated the Wideband and made sure that worked ok. Also got the boost gauge plumbed in properly and thats now working.
Reconnected the battery and she fired first time :)

Turned the boost up,shes now running 0.6 bar (8.7psi),she pulls alot better now!

Got the MX5 weighed at a local Weigh Bridge last week and she came in at exactly 1000kg (i guess the 15s,roll cage, turbo kit,PAS,electric windows etc do add up). I'm not expecting to get the weight down to 900kg,but every little helps.
Found a photo online of a half stripped dash and really liked the look,so decided to bite the bullet and have a go myself.
Phase 1
20120917_185825.jpg

20120917_185848.jpg

Heater controls are out and so is half of the blower system. Just the main blower/heater unit in the middle, but i think i may struggle removing it with the dash still intact (dont really wanna remove it,as i know it'll never go back in right)
Also a lil video

Managed to get the dash out today,a couple of sneeky screws hiding in very awkward places but got round it. Removed the 2 hoses that come from the block through the bulk head and into the heater unit. Made a joiner for the pipes and removed the heater unit ok.
20120919_111650_zpsee7f511b.jpg

Sorted about the wiring but needs more work to make it tidy. Removed the centre bar to cut off the tabs (still needs re-doing) and also trimmed the dash board so it looks abit neater
IMG_0313_zps8df70b05.jpg

Going to leave it at that for now,got Modified Live at Snetterton this Sunday and dont want the car still in bits before the show. Plans after the show are:
- Remove dash and clean up and finish the centre bar and get the bar powder coated.
- Cut out centre console on the dash board
- Make a new centre console out of aluminium
- re-route electric window switches, imobiliser and hazard/light switch onto new centre console
This will then get rid of the centre arm rest and should have everything together :)

Though i'd make the most of what good weather we've got left,so took the MX for a blast

20120930_144427.jpg

I've had the idea of making my own vented bonnet for awhile, but just couldnt find the right type of vent design. I'd love a Garage Vary bonnet but they're rare as Hen's Teeth,so that was out of the question.I then spotted these GTR inspired vents and thought they'd be perfect! Got hold of another bonnet to cut about and got the Angle Grinder and Dremel out
Heres the vent mocked up on the bonnet

Was quite happy with the fit,so proceeded to rivet them on. This was the deciding factor whether riveting them on would work. Luckily i had some 3.2mm rivets kicking about and they went on a treat

Scotched the underside and gave that a lick of paint

Also had a noise from the transmission,so replaced driveshafts and prop. In the end it outed out to be the Diff,so got a replacement and got it welded and fitted Wednesday last week. Went to a local car meet last night and thought i'd do abit of drifting and ended up breaking the diff (oops!) Will be on the look out for a 1.8 diff or some type of Torsen. An LSD is out of my price range but i think a welded diff will give the appropriate amount of lock (if it doesnt break!)

Also bought Forza Horizon today so thought i'd create the MX5 again, didnt come out too bad :) Apologies for the photos, had to take a pic of my TV for the time being

Still needing a 1.8 diff/driveshafts/prop,but with it being off the road and Christmas only round the corner i'm in no hurry :)

Heres a crap photo of them illuminated, realised i need brighter bulbs! For some reason 1000rpm doesnt light up,but does if i switch between sidelights/dipped...strange (never done it before) Guess thats something else i need to fix

Update!
About a month ago Speedhunters were on the look out for photo of MX5/Eunos/Miatas from all over the world. I emailed them some photos of mine on the off chance, knowing that it wouldnt get picked. The article went up and low and behold mine had been chosen! (about half way down)
http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/11/miata-featurethis/
My LED bulbs came through the post so got round to fitting them in the dash. They light up a treat! Just need to trim abit of the dash to light up the bottom left corner abit more, but who needs to see under 2k rpm anyway :p
(forgot to clean the perspex lenses...oops!)

Also fitted an Alloy Washer Bottle from MX5Dan

Even had time to split the 1.8 diff and cleaned it up ready for drifting. Didnt realise how much of a difference there is between the 1.6 and 1.8 diffs, looks like the 1.8 diff will be ALOT easier to weld up :) Happy days!

Never really been a fan of MX5's but i am of this one, so you must be doing something right :L

Apologies for the photos,it was cold and i forgot my tripod :/

Had Todd and Ricky over today to help me fit the new HSDs,didnt take long at all. The longest part was making sure they all sat level

This looked awesome, but far too impracticle for the british roads

Also grabbed a photo of the new labels for the centre console

Trying out Flickr as Photobucket is being silly, its not too bad. Just a pain copy and pasting the img links

Just linked a pic of your splitter scrapping the ground to a mate, says he knows/met you :D

Recognise his car sent you it in a PM? It's alot lower now :L

Took the car out to help bed the coilovers in on Maximum Soft. Found out i cant even park up a curb :( Thats the scrape marks you can see. Raised the rears 10mm and theres more clearance now, hopefully enough to have it driveable again :)
225541_10152640141060311_440838186_n.jpg

Took the car to have a full geometry set up. I used the settings posted on Roadster Drift as a guide, except i left the front and rear camber.

Didnt realise how much rear camber i have! This will soon be changed when i get my Wide Arches

This is becoming an epic build mate Chris :). Can't help thing the exhaust side of the turbo is going to take the paint off the strut brace pretty sharpish though!
