Harsh throttle response

Hi All,

I own a 1998 Micra 1.0L. I find the throttle is difficult to control in first gear, very jerky. I'm going to start by changnig the distributer cap as the current one it heavily pitting on the electrodes.


Is this a common feature on this car or can something be adjusted?

does the car ever cut out? could maybe be the common throttle body problem.

could it maybe be just not enough acceleration when you are pulling away?

the car doesn't cut out if idling but does if trying to move off without enough throttle - but its very rare.

I'm used to driving another car with a 2L engine so maybe its just me trying to adjust.

Clutch pedal seems a bits stiff, maybe that effecting my control? - do you know how thats cured?

Yeah my 1L K11 is fairly jumpy in first, I tend to move away then immediately switch to 2nd or just keep the foot down till 2nd

hehe, yeah, I've found it pulls away in 2nd pretty good to.
