Hi. Before i go on i have did a search and nothing came out of real use. I have a 1990 k10 1.0. It runs great but i can smell a bit to much fuel in the oil. Is this a mechanical fuel pump proplem?, i heard that if they go they can pump alot of fuel in the oil and it can cause a fire, Is this correct?.
I changed the oil last night just in case. Also if i changed the pump, it looks like its a straight in and out job, is that right? any quick tips?.

hi twincam

i think the pumps can leak into the crankcase if the diaphram is split.
i would take the pump off (leaving the pipes on) and work the plunger a few times, any leak should show then

I've never seen a K10 fuel pump do that, you should be ok. If the car burns oil thats probably just old age of the car. Quite common tbh.

Yeah i will take the pump off and have a look. Be the weekend maybe until i do it. Will post a update if i can see the diaphram leak.
Anyone else with any info?
