The mot passed first attempt but I am still keen to restore /preserve the micra.. On to the super rusty but well within the mot serviceable limits front struts. I prefer to save before replace components , I don't always have the money to replace!! On a side thought for anyone just starting out on car diy, stay safe with axle stands and prevent breaking your underseal by using a length of wood which spreads the load and is more stable. Teaching how to suck eggs to the old hands I know...

Your struts are looking great did u use K-rust what primer and top coat did you use?

I used a mix of k-rust on the dodgey metal, etch primmer on the bare metal, silver hook brand acrylic medium blue £4 a tin and clear coat to finish.. I reckon I reconned all 4 shocks for the price of one new shock... I always preheat the paint in hot water to get better adhesion and finish..

thats right, chasis getting weaker, just finding harder to lift car up without cracking somthing
