Engine light

Driving home tonight and saw the engine light on, the car is running good, (did replace battery just before Christmas) it's 2012 model (62 plate). Any advice please.

You need to get the fault code read at the very least to give you initial direction... there could be many many reasons why the engine light comes on.

Checked with diagnostic kit, came up with P0303 which is a misfire, seems to have cleared now, but will check with garage near me.

It could be multiple things from old/damaged/fouled spark plugs, a coil going bad or split on the boot, bad wiring, bad fuel, or bad injector....
if it's cleared just keep an eye on it. If it was me and it came back I would first check the plugs and if they are good swap coils with another cylinder to see if the problem moves to another cylinder (some of this assumes it's a petrol engine!)
