Engine dies Help!

Hi all Happy new year.

I have a problem, my micra starts fine, runs for a while but as soon as it reaches normal operating temperature it dies and wont start again until it cools down again, any ideas?

Thanks for any help scott. :)

scott

all i can think is, the coil breaking down when it gets hot ?
you need to wait till it conks out then check for a spark really
or tip a bit of fuel down the throttle body, to rule out a fuel problem

Had the same problem on our old 96 Micra a few years ago.
It would run for about 5 or 10 mins and die.
It was the coil/distributor. I think the AA man said that the spark was there but very weak.

I don't think that this is your problem but....
Check the fuel pump fuse near the battery. They are prone to damp/corrosion and affected by temperature.
When ours went the car would start and then die within a few seconds and the managent light came on.

Hi thanks for the help i checked the spark before it heated and it was fine then i checked the spark when it heated and cut out and there was nothing so im going to try and source a distributor this week and let you know how it went :)

Bargain!

I didn't have a clue what the fault was when ours did this.
£400 fitted at Nissan. Ouch!!!!

That's why forums like this are so good.

Glad you got it sorted.
