Whats the best stuff for cleaning in the engine bay

'Gunk' or similar degreaser and a steam cleaner.
Or if you have one of those hot foam car wash places near you (who doesn't?!) get them to do it!
Just tell them not to overdo it on the distributor cap.

just for engine/manifolds etc, use some brake cleaner, a toothbrush and lots and lots of rag. just be careful you're not smoking around it or have a mate who likes to paly with lighters. my head set fire... hd to beat it out with wet cloths! not a fun experience 2 days into car ownership!
