Draining Gearbox Oil Mistake

I made a mistake draining the gearbox oil, I took out a plug that I thought was the drain plug and the oil drained out ok but a spring came with it. I have checked the old oil to see if there was a ball bearing or a plunger but there was nothing else so I put the spring and plug back. Is there anything that can go wrong with that.

was it this one?

this is a cover for the main shaft bearing, too high to drain oil.
to refit this cover, first drain the oil described below so it doesn't leak out the main shaft hole. then dry/the touching faces with brake/carb cleaner for a good bonding surface, then apply a thin bead of sealant to seal it or else it'll leak oil.

the drain plug is this at the very bottom
