clean up the faces of the materials you are welding together, and use gas if you can. You'll get a much neater and stronger finish.I have made it to fit my k11 and looks ok
Yeh it looks ok and holds good and gona put a strong rod to hold it in place I got a belt what fits bang on with it in place too sortedclean up the faces of the materials you are welding together, and use gas if you can. You'll get a much neater and stronger finish.
No I have mount it on bottom two bolts as normal and I still have my tensions so I can lock belt in tight will make a rod to hold from engine to alternator so it's more strongerIf I'm reading that right to tension the belt your just bending the metalwork on the front of the car?! And not running a tensioner?
As soon as you rev ut the metals going to bend back and the belt will slacken!

Big up if it works. You will show up franks ghetto build... So frank watch out your ghetto status might be revoked
I have done a micra but I didn't custom the alternater in any way or weld mounts? Am just on a big turbo that needs custom alternator belts and moving stuffI dont doubt you haven't but the theory is the same behind each build. If you've done a micra especially ?

I like this sort of engineering, but doubt that will hold...... Talking of custom mounts has anyone made alloy alt mounts before the bottom mount especially is very heavy cast iron.
sometimes we need the geko tooThat'll never happen, there's ghetto and then there's ghetto
Thanks polly but mine is not air con model can I stil do it like urs but pull belt backazzy rather than bolting the (moving) alternator top to the chassis (which will eventually fail), instead why not just join the alternator to the upper mount on the engine with a beefy extension like on mine (so the alternator moves/vibrates with the engine)
and then use the tensioner as shown here
ok so am guessing its a custom plate made ? And also just thinking and trying to see a clear picYes that's why he's telling you to do it like his.
Yeh going to scrapyard and see if I can pick up and nice barpiece of thick strap / bar drill'd through holes,,,,,,,,,,Should find one laying around near you
Thanks polly I'll make something like that but strong
yes matt, you can get it down to 1 kg np (half the weight) pic,s hereFrank, did it work out ok?
me toowish i could weld that nicely.....
Frank is that same but lighter ? Or is it longeryes matt, you can get it down to 1 kg np (half the weight) pic,s here

shorter iirc mate, because i was running a big pulleyFrank is that same but lighter ? Or is it longer
a spare pulley paul (when i had the solar panel sunroof) my current pulley is about 150% stock diaWas that one you had spare frank or off a different car?
thanks frank, I'll just get a custom one made like polly is using on his, am just looking for a td04 elbow to fit gona be tight I guessa spare pulley paul (when i had the solar panel sunroof) my current pulley is about 150% stock dia
