Carb information?

I have a 1985 Micra automatic with the Hitachi carb that is shot. I am in Canada and can't find a carb kit here. Are they available in the UK?

I have heard you can switch to a Webber carb and need more information on this. According to the Haynes book I have the DCZ 306-82.
What model of Webber do I need?
Do I need an adapter plate?

I have found out that the carb I need is the Webber 341CH. Does anyone know if these are availiable in Canada? Are they common in the UK?

They are not common no. I'd have thought you could get a replacement through a local scrap yard?

you can get a replacement. however, despite what most people say, because they think they're clever because they've got a weber carb and they always compare a brand new weber to a knackered hitatchi, the weber replacement is crap. you're better off finding a good used hitatchi or takeing it to a carb specialist and getting it sorted

I have gotten one carb from a scrap yard but it only lasted a couple of months. I am afraid they will all be like that. I have been looking to get the Hitachi rebuilt but can not find a carb kit for it in Canada.
My mechanic found a new Hitachi but it was going to be $450 just for the carb. I thought a Weber would be a cheaper alternative. What do they sell for in the UK?
