anyone on here a butcher ?

as some of you may know work has been messing me about a bit this year i work for a supermarket and so far this year i`ve been on cafe,canteen,chillers,wines and spirits and back to cafe found out on wednesday when i nipped in they were now planning on making me move to the cooked chickens counter somewhere i didn`t want to go so i threatened to move stores half hour later was in the main office with the personel manager with her offering me a butchery apprenticeship starting a week on monday an the plus the training is in blackpool

so really other than telling everyone on here anyone a butcher thats got any tips for me

As far as I'm aware mate, Butchery is a very specialist trade not a whole lot of people do it, but congrats on the apprenticeship - I just hope you're not too squeamish

nah not squeamish at all can start bleeding and keep on working thanks i`m really looking forward to learning it all 6 months of hard work coming up me thinks

Definistely, but let's hope it's worth your while, and will help stop Butchers disappearing off the high street

#######s have been messing me around too, but our deli rocks lol

meat and fish isnt too bad and the speciaist pay is good (Y)

all i can suggest is barrier cream, e45 do some, and lots of it, working with raw meat and stuff can really dry up and #### your skin

oh and get used to smelling badly too....

no mate not waitrose and i wouldn`t advise doing what i`ve done to get ahead most people they would`ve just let go but to use their words i`m too valuable member of the store to lose

thanks for the tip on barrier cream i`ll be on the lookout for some

and at the mo i come home smelling of fish an chips so the smelling won`t matter

Get strong, those pigs sure do weigh a bit lol (im not a butcher, but have lifted one)
