right i am in a little bit of a pickle i bought myself a nice new Momo gear knob yesterday from halfords for £2.50 lol however i cant get the stock knob off does any one have any tips on how to remove it all i know is that is is a screw on job.

My old one screws off, It was on quite tight (like someone didn't want me to take it off....), try giving it a hard twist. It may be a case of being attached to the stick so don't go yanking!.

well i got it off! that aint going back on there, its knackered. i used mole grips in the end only problem now is the new knob seams really high might have to go and cut the stick down now.

Too high is good.

Hi

What thread is on the end of the gear change lever. If its difficult to remove I would rather have one ready before I destroy my old one removing it.

I'm pretty sure that its M10x1.25, I'm going in to work tomorrow so I will check the tap then.
My original nissan knob unscrewed by hand, well two hands, and some effort.

yeh yeh you could drive the car sitting on the sunroof with that cool for summer time or just election campaignin with a mega phone
but you know what----------it looks kind of cool shhh wats gonna happen wen the leds go on LOOK LOOK UFO!!

yeah you could do mr beans style which a couch strapped up and using brush and ropes to drive the car

Doesn't your long knob (haha) break the screen when changing gear? I bet that moves miles, not exactly a racing change

It doesn't move "that" much. Biggest issue with is it is that when in 5th its only just clear of my hand on the steering wheel.

No Idea. I dont know what it could fail on. I'm sure my tester would tell me when I took it round if it was going to, so I'd just unscrew it and stick the ally knob back on. He passed my previous ride three times when it was rolling on cut coils, so he's clearly one of the level headed sort.

What is there to be embarrased about?

No he didn't "let me off" his judgement of the case through his interpretation of the wording is that the springs were complete, - they fitted with no signs of breakage or poor manufacture, and they were identical from one side of the car to the other.

have ya seen how long it is? dont see any like that.

It's no longer than a transit gear lever. Anyways, since when has having a long knob been embarrassing.

Sorry MSC members, I know this is childish humour but I couldn't help myself
