Newbie with a few problems

Hi, picked up my K11 today, a late '95 model. It's a 1.0L.

There's a couple of things I picked up on as follows: -

Occasionally (quite often actually) won't go into first from neutral, if I do get it in it grinds and jumps out of gear. It sometimes does it with third as well. Any ideas?

Heater fan only works on full. Any ideas.

Slight blow from the backbox, what's a decent aftermarket replacement?

Overall it's decent, needs the rear arches painted but that's about it.

As a newbie I've a few questions.

Where do I get the "open-mouth" grills from?
I know the stud pattern is 4x100 but what offset is required?
I like the look of the Super S (I think that's right) bumpers, where am I best to get these from? Breakers yard? I take it they'll fit ok?

Open mouth grilles from Kristian in the trade forum
SuperS bumpers will fit fine, kristian or breakers is best place for them.


Heater fan is the resitor card at fault i belive get one of these from a scrappy
Ashley, janspeed and i think some other people do backboxes

moddedmicra covered them already, but more detail:

open mouth grills: need to be custom made or purchased from someone selling one or ask Kristian! there are around 4-5 different styles available but all made from people cutting different areas of the grill out depending on taste etc!

heaterfan: common fault. under the passanger footwell, look up beind the dash and you will see next to a circular black tube, usualy with a brown base, and has 4wires going to it. this is the resistor card, held it by 2screws. remove this and you will see that the circuit will have blown which causes only setting 4to work! either get a new one from scrap yard you re-solder the blown area

check the clutch cable adjustment for the gears (done @box end, it needs about 3-4mm of freeplay in the clutch arm), also make sure the right amount of gear oil is in the box.
