Car passed it's MOT today, was really worried that it wouldn't.

On the advice sheet, it was said that the CV boot will need doing soon, fair enough. But also that the crossmember was starting to corrode. Can I treat it with the rust prevention stuff I got for the bodywork to stop it getting worse, or shall I just wait until it needs welding??

its not expensive to do the crossmember.... cost me £20 ish for xmember (i think) and £20 for the welding... removed the thing myself didnt take long.. i would just replace it... gets all the lil jobs out the way

get some pics of how bad, if was only a noticification you should have 2-3 years, changing is actually an easy DIY job, there's a guide in the site in my sig below, if you know anyone with a mig welder or spot welder would be better they can easily do the welding which is loads really.

Well done on passing though, I hate MOT time, to me it feels like standing on a stage under a spot light giving a presentation.
